I’m a 70 year old man. Heavy tobacco use for nearly 50 years. Stopped in 2013 and vaping nicotine ever since. Diagnosed with moderate copd (70% spirometer) in 2010 and same this year. Not asthmatic.
Got a lung infection 2 weeks ago and was prescribed an antibiotic with 2mg Ventolin tabs 3 times per day. After the second day the infection much reduced (almost clear phlegm) thanks to the antibiotic but noticed distinct physical and mental side effects, most of them positive.
POSITIVE
* Much more energy and less tiredness.
* Sharper vision
* Enhanced mood
* Minor aches and pain gone
* Clearer and more positive thinking
* Socially more outgoing
* Waking earlier and feeling good
* Improved appetite
NEGATIVE
* Mild insomnia.
* Several mild foot cramps
* Increased resting pulse rate (75) but no increase in blood pressure (125/80)
On the second visit to the dr after 3 days on the meds the first thing she said to me was ‘you’re high, probably the Ventolin’, my reply ‘not high but feeling good’
The best way to describe how I’m feeling now is having an increased sense of general well-being. Cutting out the evening 2mg tab fixed the insomnia but with one in the morning and another mid-afternoon this feeling of well-being remains.
My question is - has anyone else experienced the same effects on Ventolin?
I understand that Ventolin improves blood oxygen levels and that maybe this is the reason for these general improvements.
Whatever the reason I plan to continue with the Ventolin for a while and will post again with any changes.
