Yes, Vonnie, I have read this. What is interesting Duke University, in North Carolina is researching CF and emphysema...they both have very similar patterns, especially when it comes to progression, the biggest difference in the two diseases is CF is genetic...but...is emphysema, besides Alpha 1, also???

Thanks Vonnie!! Thanks for sharing, enjoy the season!!

They keep saying it isn’t but I don’t agree my grandad had it apparently I never knew him. Also most people I met on pulmonary rehabilitation had family members with it also

My Grandmother, Mother and Aunt died of emphysema and cousin has developed it. All were smokers. Consultant told me there is NOT a hereditary genetic connection but I don't believe it. I might if one of the family as a smoker didn't develop it but all have.

It is on my mum's and on my dad's side of the family. It surely must make a predisposition effect.

Nothing solid I'm afraid. There are is much promising research but alas nothing new has materialised into something patients can benefit from, yet.

No need to be sorry at all, many new members have arrived since then who would not have seen it first time around.
