I have been diagnosed with mycobarium avaim a lungbug which seems to be common with bronchiectasis sufferers I have been given 3 sets of drugs to be taken 3 times a week, but I feel very ill with them, tired loss of appetite and feeling sick. Does anyone else have this bug and how do you feel ?

Hi Osha, I have never heard of this bug so cant advise. Hope you feel better soon x

Hi Osha. I have also been diagnosed with Mac lung disease and have been put on a regime of four different antibiotics daily. I have been told that I may have to take them for 18months to two years as it is a difficult mycobacteria to eradicate. In my case, the side effects are quite debilitating, squeamish, tiredness and other bits and pieces. I am going to persevere as I was feeling poorly with almost continuous chest infections before I started treatment. I would get in touch with your consultant or nurse as I’m told that they can tailor the meds to help with side effects. Sorry this is so long winded. I hope you get the help you need and that your symptoms lessen.Take care. Karen
