For twelve years now we've been good friends

Close as close can be

I never thought that it would change

How wrong can anyone be

Alas all things must sometime end

And so it came to pass

Some situation has arisen

Which has upset the lass

She sits and stares and stares at me

With hatred in her eyes

Her whole body language

Indicates despise

What has caused this awful rift

Do I hear someone ask?

It's hard for me to speak of it

Behind my stoical mask.

The vet has gone and told me

That my dog has got too fat

"So that's all the food you're getting

And that's the end of that!"

Poor dog. Do they do diet dog treats?

The vet used to say my dog was overweight. My attempts at slimming her down were sabotaged by husband who used to cook her a sausage when he cooked tea,I did get him barred from the ice cream van,cos he used tobuyherice cream.

She did get load ofexerise thoug. Love to you both.keep wrapped in this coldweather

Diet dog treats gave me a chuckle but perhaps you've identified a genuine nîche market. We should get a product out there now 'cause somebody will be doing this in LA and we need to corner the rest of the world before they decide to expand. I can provide any assistance required apart from physical labour, anything involving dealing with new people or startup capital lol

I know that situation Don, our dog,Bella can eat for England ,if allowed. She will bully us for extra biscuits and snacks. She sulks when told she must diet. It's a case of being cruel to be kind.🤡

Thanks that gave me a much needed chuckle this morning.

Awww, I'm pretty skinny at the moment. Does that make me a rubbish hug. I hope not cause hugs are one of my favourite things either from the humans I care about or our lovely dogs 😎

I looked again at your photo and couldn’t resist sending you another hug this morning. 😊

Fancy waking up to that face every morning. I am envious.😉😉

Ardraven profile image
Ardraven in reply to Whitechinchilla

Do you actually have a chinchilla, white or otherwise? Cause if so I'm envious right back I've always wanted to keep them since a neighbour did when I was a kid but I can't afford more than one pet and Monty dog dog is a better choice given that since he's great company and encourages me to get at least some exercise ☺️

Hi Ardraven,

Sadly no longer,

When I lived in Durban I had to give up my beloved Jack Russell who has been my fiend for 9 years and I had such severe depression that my gp suggested I got a cat.

She was adorable. That is her photo, white silver tipped fur with emerald green eyes. My “ SEUSS”

Next to my boys she was the love of my life. 😉Sadly when I had to return here I could not bring her as I didn’t know where I was going to be living.

I live next door to a park and would love a little pooch but I live in a block where pets are not allowed, so I have to make do with going over to the park and petting all the dogs there😂😂😂 it’s the best I can do at the mo.

Enjoy your four legged friends, they bring such love to our lives.😊

a few typos there 😂😂😂

No worries it was clear what you meant. Wait til I have a couple of bad nights sleep in a row I can't type for toffees then lol. I'm sorry to hear about you having to leave your cat behind that's such a shame. And having to live where you can't have pets is a tough break too. I hope you manage to find a way to have a furry friend of your own again one day.

Monty's a Jack Russell but not everyone realises that cause he's the long haired version. I am so lucky and blessed to have found him. He's not too big, he's gentle and very affectionate and he has a clicky knee which means he's supposed to walk little but often which is the same advice my physio gave me! He also gets bad separation anxiety so he needs someone who's around a lot of the day and I'm stuck in a lot so we were made for each other lol. His last owners had to find a new home for him quickly when their grandson developed a terrible pet hair allergy and when a mutual friend told me about him I had to go and meet him. That was it lol love at first sight 😊

Scruff's is quietly smirking but keeping very quite

On hearing news that poor old Midge is being forced to diet

Her belly full of tuna which is a fairly healthy food

Has left her feeling quite content and in a very good mood. :) x

My dog is fairly skinny

My Wifey's dog is plump

No more feeds from one big dish

Gulped down in one great lump

Now they eat in different rooms

Their own apportioned clump

And though we hide the portions

Our hungry pets to stump

The big guy knows he's getting less

So now he's took the hump

My beloved dog was a chunk. I put him on a doggy diet with very few treats and he looked so slim and healthy. Earlier this year, he got cancer and I had to put him to sleep and on his last days, he ate a buffet of chicken, cheese, eggs and smoked salmon. Some dogs just love their food!

You can get low fat dog food and low fat treats. Poor lovey! 🐶 hopefully she’ll still get a doggy mince pie as it’s nearly Christmas after all. 😉

Two of my sheep are on a diet and one of them in particular is not at all happy about this. She’s started mooing at me whenever I go past. I’m thinking of trying to crawl past in the hopes that she won’t see me! 🐑 🐑

Perhaps you could try putting a smaller amount of her food on a much larger plate- spread it around a little to increase the impression of more food - she might not be fooled but it might make you feel slightly better Cap'n ? x

Just tell the vet that we all need extra insulation in the winter months, it will naturally drop off when we're romping around in the spring 😀🤞
