Our last day, today.

I could not post the photo last night, no signal and the pub WiFi went down.

I was sat on my lonesome in the cockpit and there was a big flurry of wings and this heron landed just feet away and he allowed me to retrieve my phone and take this photo, before strutting away.

We had a lay in today until 8 am, a gentle packing up of our belongings. Then lunch in The Ferry Inn at Horning, before returning to the boatyard at Upton. Load up Michael's car with as much as we can, leaving just the basics for our last night aboard for a quick getaway in the morning. Not before a last evening meal at the White Horse in Upton village.

Beautiful, 2greys. Herons mean you’re somewhere beautiful and reasonably remote.

The pack up and go after a good hols is always sad, but at least you’ve got a day and an evening at the pub left.

So glad your health has stayed good, and I bet your mental health has come in a treat. Good decision, 2greys, even though it went against my advice!

If we had not gone, I would have been totally miserable, I love being here. Health-wise, I am still clearing out the mucus and coughing but at least it is clear, probably it's going to take a while longer yet as well. Sats have remained at 92/94 throughout. Normal temp and usuall blood pressure. I have been monitoring them all week, just in case.

That’s a splendid report, 2greys! Long may it last, but as you say you’ll probably be a few weeks yet clearing your lungs to where they were pre-pneumonia, but you’ll have the boost of this great holiday behind you. A load of happiness goes a long way! Roll on next Broads adventure- next summer, did you say?

Herons are such graceful birds who are somewhat elusive so you did brilliantly to take a snap shot of him/her,standing still and very proud! (That's the Heron,not you!)

Such a shame your jolidays are coming to the end but you all have done so well,and you've proved those medics that advised you not to go,wrong. I know they have a duty of care etc etc, but you so wanted to go on your planned trip ......So you went and what a splendid time you've had!💞

Yes back home safe and sound thank you. So sad to leave there the time just flies past. We would love to live there, but you have to be millionaires for that, as outsiders.

Glad you had a good break. The photos were very interesting . Didnt know Broads were like that .Just thought it was about reeds and more reeds between the villages.

Oh there are plenty of reeds, but even so there is an abundance of wildlife, in fact this trip I have never seen so many Marsh Harriers that were nearly extinct only 15 years ago.

The village pub where the boat yard was was also steeped in modern history, The Richardson brothers, competitors of the Ronnie and Reggie Kray, stayed at the pub and operated their Torture Gang from there.

There are also many other interesting legends as well, not all as gruesome though. It is a very interesting area, fancy a treasure hunt? The original Crown Jewels were lost in the Wash area.
