Hi I was finally diagnosed with asthma on Friday after suffering for a while, I did a spirometry test with has left me with deep pain when I breath in and a cough/wheeze is this normal has anyone else suffered after one? I am currently being investigated for a connective tissue disease so think the test may have caused a inflammatory flare 😬

Thank you 😊

I don't normally get that with a spirometry test, but at my last one I was encouraged to push for much longer than usual which left my intercostal muscles (the little ones between the ribs) feeling very sore, and it did disturb some gunk in the bottom of my lungs.

Next time you see a nurse or medic, ask them. Or call the BLF helpline. All the best.

Hi been to the gp it’s a chest infection 😬 possible cause is the deep breathing involved in the test stirs up any nasty stuff 😊
