Just a query

Good morning all! I'm not feeling sorry for myself here, just wondering if others have had similar experience. On several occasions I have had chest infections and have also had sickness and diarrhoea at the same time. I have then passed out, each time in the bathroom or loo. It happened again on Saturday and I now have a lovely black eye - a proper shiner! I have to got to hospital when I hit my head as I am on Clopidogrel and it seems you can get bleeding on the brain so have to be careful. They did all the tests on Saturday and came to the conclusion that I had suffered side effects of a new antibiotic. I did say that it had happened on previous occasions. The doctor said that sometimes when one part of the body goes out of kilter, other parts do too. Just wondering if it's a common thing to get the stomach problems with the chest infection, and to lose consciousness. It's a bit disconcerting. I'm fine again now, apart from the black eye and an aversion to my bathroom floor lol! xx Moy

Oh bless you Moy, that sounds dreadful. I must admit that hasn’t ever happened to Pete thank goodness.

I’m glad you were checked out at hospital though and hope you feel better now. Xxxxx

Oh Moy. This sounds extremely dangerous. I've never experienced this before. Do you have one of those panic button things? Just in case it happens and you can't get up? Or keep your mobile with you all the time. I'm sorry this is happening to you. I hope they can find the root of the issue. *HUG* xx 😘

I have considered the red button before but decided that my hubby is a good guard dog and keeps me as safe as he can! Luckily this doesn't happen frequently, but is a bit disconcerting nonetheless. I just wondered if it's something others have experience too.

Glad to know you are going on ok. xx Moy

That sounds horrible. I kept starting to reply to you but felt I was saying something silly but finally feel compelled to reply. Could it simply be an adverse reaction to the antibiotics? Many years ago I had something very similar with antibiotics, minus the diarrhea aspect. One moment I was ok, the next I was sick and fainted. It was concluded that I was allergic to the antibiotics.

I hope you're ok and this stops happening to you! Sending you best wishes ,💐

Yes, they think it's the antibiotics this time, but not sure about previous occasions. Thanks for your reply - nothing silly about it at all! I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one it's happened to. Not that I want anyone else to experience it but still glad that I'm not the only one (if that makes sense). xx Moy

Hi

My body empties the contents of my stomach as soon as my temperature rises. I’ve been told this is so the body can concentrate on fixing the problem rather than processing food. My legs also go very wobbly. A nurse told me this is because my heart is beating faster in reaction to the high temperature and so all the blood is being pumped in the other direction.

I’ve also had diarrhoea on my usual rescue antibiotics as they’ve reacted with other meds. It’s always difficult to know whether it’s illness or side effects but I hope you get sorted before you black the other eye.

Haha! Other eye is currently intact, thanks! I'll try and keep it that way. Interesting to hear what you have been told. Yes, it is difficult to know what's what, isn't it? xx Moy
