Can anyone give a better explanation?

Probably Im the youngest member in this community.Im 25 and have been suffering from severe bronchiectasis in lower lobe of right lungs for more than 9-10 years.

My oxygen percentage is 27% now.My physio said my right lung is damaged almost 70%!!

I have also scoliosis, curved spine, that is pressing my right lung constantly, though my curving is arrested.

These 2 diseases make my life a hell.

I know a lots of methods to release sputum.Though i do these regularly but in every month infection comes without any definite reason and i have to take antibiotic in every month.

I just don't understand why my disciplined life can't keep my body sound!

It is simply a ridiculous life to me.

Daily Im fighting just to live in this hell.

Why man?why i have to live in this hell?why I have to endure all these throughout my life? Can anyone give a better explanation?? 😹

No answers, I’m afraid, Abidul. Life is s**t. Bronchiectasis can get people very young. There are those on the forum who have had it since early childhood. I hope you feel well supported by the medical professionals and also by your family and friends. Hang in there, talk to your GP about counselling. And come on here and have a good moan.

I agree with Katinka however, a warm welcome to the forum. Sometimes it takes a while to get replies to your posts, especially at the weekends.

Wish I could help more, best wishes. P

So sorry for you. Is your consultant a bronchiectasis expert, or a more general lung consultant? After reading other sufferers' posts on here, that seems to make a great difference in the treatment. Wishing you all the best.

Hi again Abidul, So sorry you are feeling as depressed about your condition as you were in your last post.

As I said in reply to your last post, I know very little about your health system in Bangladesh but I am pleased you have been taught lung clearance. It is indeed very depressing when you do all the right things to try and keep the status quo with your condition and it still bites you on the bum far too frequently. We all feel this way at times and it’s much worst when we have other medical conditions to cope with too.

I wonder if your medics have considered a maintenance dose of antibiotics. One which is frequently used in the UK is Azithromycin, usual dose is 1 three times a week, although some do take them 1 a day. Some people with bronchiectasis, usually who grow pseudomonas, nebulise an antibiotic, usually Colomycin or Tobramycin. You might want to discuss this with your medics.

Hi Abidul

I am so sorry you were struggling and had to go to hospital as an emergency.

Nobody on here is medically qualified but can only go on experience, sometimes lifetime. It seems you have been given a treatment dose of Azithromycin (which is different to the 1 three times a week I mentioned above which is considered prophyactic (( tries to keep the numbers of bacteria as low as possible but you would still get infections, although most people report fewer infections)). I am surprised with all the infections and courses of antibiotics you have had to have that you have not been put on IVs.

Two days is not really long enough to expect great results. I would give 72 hours to see a little improvement, otherwise I would definiteoly go back for your medication to be reviewed.

Take a look at this Abidul - I hope you find it helpful.

Hope you feel better soon.

Bless you I was 20 when I was diagnosed and been through hell and back had pneumonia so many times and it turned into sepsis. I feel for you and exactly the same for me antibiotics every month I have it on both lungs I get side effects from the antibiotics too which make it more hard to deal with. I took a prophylactic antibiotic called azithromycin for around 7 months last year and it was very effective I took it Monday Wednesday Friday but unfortunately I have a heart condition and they made it worse so then I was back to square one very ill every month sometimes a few days after is finished the 2 week course I have an infection sometimes just 2/3 days later. Felt very alone when I was first diagnosed I’m 27 now it still isn’t any easier as I never ever come across anyone who has bronchiectasis so young. Do you find summer or winter has an effect on you? Weather makes no difference I get infections whenever and however so frustrating!!
