Air Purifiers ???

I don't post very often but do read with great interest all of the posts on here. I have severe emphysema and in more or less desperation I thought I would try an Air Purifier. It arrived today and I have tried it constantly for hours on end and felt no difference in the air whatsoever. Has anyone else tried one and has there been any positive result or otherwise please. As far as my illness is concerned I can speak for a fair length of time while I am sat down but even just standing up presents a problem now and to try to walk and talk is a 'no go'. Would appreciate any experience anyone has had with an air purifier. Thank you.

i have copd quite badly and use a HUMIDIFIER in my bedroom and lounge, it add moisture to air rather than taking it away like a DEHUMIDIFIER which does the opposite and i also have oxygen at night----- from lynn

I have used an air purifier in my bedroom for years. I think it does help. When I change the air filter, it is always full of dust and dirt.

I also rarely have the windows open (we use the air conditioner during the hot days). Also dust and vacuum often.

It can be little things that can make breathing worse. A few months ago, I bought new bed pillows, they were down filled (goose down?) and I didn't think anything about it. Well, I started coughing more and having an increase in shortness of breath. I then bought hypro alergenic pillows, my sob and coughing decreased to normal.

Thank you for the information, I have to have the hypo alergenic pillows as well.

I used to vac and dust most diligently but I can't even push the vacuum now and rely on my very kind daughter to help me.

I will do some more homework and hopefully fine something that helps.
