I have used an air purifier for years. I always have it running in my bedroom. When I change the filter, it is covered with dust, so it's doing its job. We even have a filter on our furnace.
Here in the states, there is a brand of filters, Hippa, that is very good at trapping dust, dog/cat hair, etc.
My daughter went halves with me last year on a Dyson hot & cool link. It stand a good 10 feet away from me on the dressing table. The filter was replaced a while ago @ £50. Guess they are not cheap, but have full remote control and if it gets chilly, you can turn the heat on.
