Good evening everyone,

I have found out there is a local BLF breatheasy class on tomorrow. Has anyone ever been? I just wonder what to expect? Feeling slightly daunted to say the least šŸ˜³

Hi,I went to one.its people who have breathing problems.everyone was very friendly.

Unfortunately could only go once as it clashed with pulmonary rehab.and appointments

I should give it a go. If you donā€™t like it donā€™t go again.

The worst bit will be going in.after that it will be all plain sailing. Good luck.

When I went I took my husband, partly for transport and also so he could see what happened.

Hiya, oh that has spurred me on, thankyou, i just have to get through the door!!

Sadly itā€™s only on once a month. How lovely you take the time to organise a club.

I still seem to have so many questions, so may see if i can get to know some new friends in the same boat.

Why not it's fun? You have a chat and there will be a respiratory nurse there. I went to mine but because it was dominated by 1 group who were very insular I didn't go back. x

Hello Vee70, do you mean a Breatheasy group or pulmonary rehab? Breatheasy groups are local support groups that differ in what they offer. Ours meets monthly and we usually have a speaker, but it's not a class. After the teas and coffees, we have a singing teacher for those who want to sing. Various smaller groups have sprung up, such as a walking/meet up group, a swimming group etc.

Do go , you meet others with the same problems as yourself. I was in the original one founded in Coventry and although I do not go now I still meet some members at other groups I am involved in. They usually have lots of info including some personal tips.

As yet no,but first is to be Friday.I believe it is to

show you ways of using less energy to breath. And

getting more out of your body.

LUCK

Our Breatheasy group is a support group with talks from professionals. Nothing daunting but very useful information. We have a walking group and an allotment. There is also a singing group. Don't know if yours is similar but it would be worth going to find out, wouldn't it? xx Moy

I think the Breatheasy groups vary a lot around the country,Some only meet on a monthly basis.I was encouraged to go to one by the respiritory nurse to combat the isolation lung disease can cause.I plucked up the courage to go to one but sadly it did not turn out as I expected.I thought it would be a support group and somewhere you could meet and talk with others in a similiar situation.I found it very regimented and the activities were not at all suited to someone with bad breathing difficulties and no transport of their own.We all know that exercise is good but this group was certainly for the very mobile.Every activity involved walking fair distances or climbing stairs, swimming, gardening, barbeques etc.If I could do all those things I could get out more anyway. It just made me feel more inadequate. The nurse was also surprised at the lack of thought put into the outings and activities and said she would be mindful in future of nature of this particular group and only refer those with mild problems.Rant over....Please don't let my experience put you off,I perhaps was just unlucky .I think I should move house, Hacienda's local group sounds much more friendly and accomodating.River trips with a carvery sounds lovely,an opportunity to get out in the country and have a nice meal, socialise with like minded people, things that you would normally not be able to do.Please tell us how you got on and what your local group is like xx

I was thinking how fab Haciendaā€™s group sounds too!

I am so lucky to still be active & mobile, iā€™m 49 so still working, just at the start of this journey, but hope to gather any info i can to help me understand....when i eventually get my spirometry done in Aug x
