Some Unintended Consequences Are Good!

I have emphysema. This past Friday (Today is Saturday) I was diagnosed with the beginning of bronchitis. (That's alway a double treat.) At any rate the usual treatment of prednisone and antibiotics seems to be working. Here's the unintended consequence: On Thursday night I began a real bad toothache in one of my molars. My dentist can't see me until Tuesday. However, since starting the prednisone for bronchitis my tooth feels WONDERFUL!

How strange but good that the toothache went. I hope you feel better soon. X 😀

It’s the antibiotics which are working on the infection in your tooth. V good unintended consequence!

Haha! I had trouble for years with some spots on my face that just wouldn't clear, no matter what I did. The GP gave me cream to use but it did nothing. Since having so many antibiotics and steroids, the spots cleared and I've had no trouble now for about three years! Every cloud ... xx Moy

That’s great!

Amoxicillin toothe rescue!! 😊.

You say ‘usual’. How often is ‘usual’?

For me, about seven times a year-for you?

Prednisone and antibiotics do cure....but I don't know about a toothache. The pain may come back once the meds wear off. I have no idea though.

The side effects of prednisone were SO SEVERE - nausea, dizziness, vertigo, insomnia, and more - I could not function or walk ! - that I had to quit immediately.

Dear morehope, I was on strong pred dosage 3 years ago, due severe back pain . Eventually, they diagnosed me with severe aggressive prostate cancer, ended up with chemotherapy which failed after 3 months.

Whilst I was in hospital for 9 days, the doctors decided that they would take me off pred, and they reduced my pred dosage in 6 days and stopped me completely. I have been free of pred since April 2018.

I am now on an experimental drug program for metastatic prostate cancer and it is controlling my illness very well.

Pred masks a lot off other underlying issues, I wish you all the very best, if it has relieved your molar pain, take care, best wishes .
