Hi Mabsie

I am sorry you are feeling so poorly. I too have COPD and asthma. If the infection is not cleared after three courses of meds, I would ask for a culture of the sputum to be sure they have given you proper treatment. I hope you get the answers you need and start to feel better again.

Thank You for your reply.

So short of breath after walking 20 meters.

Hospital saying viral and sputum is clear but coughing up copious amount. Use ventolin and Symbicourt inhaler.

I have been using e cig which i used for two years when stopped smoking 4 years ago.

Constantly having to clear chest.

Sorry fot the rant but i think anxiety is kicking in.👍

Sorry to hear you are not too well Mabsie after several courses of drugs. This is not unusual for viral infections to leave you down for some time, but with rest you should start to recover your strength again soon. Don't rush I am sure you will recover if you gradually increase what you do each day. It's the same if you have an operation or accident it takes more time to recover for chronic illness people. Best wishes for a good recovery.

Well done for giving up smoking.

Everything takes time to settle down when you give up.

I never thought Inwould be a non smoker ( 30 years non smoker) hooray. Hav you thought about getting a sputum pot from GPS surgery. Then try to get an appointment- GP/ nurse practitioner/Pharmacist/ phone appointment. Our GP USES all of these to make best use of scarce resources.

Spit in the sputum pot and take it with you( try to get some lumpy bits on ( sorry to be gross)!!

Try to eat a a bit healthy,if you can.

The best thing about giving up the weed was not the money saved, but the fact that we bought food we didn’t before. Nice fish/ fancy stuff.

Whatever makes you happy.!,

I don’t really like the way that smoking cessation is presented in this country.

The way it’s put is that if you give up ,all will be well tra la.

No attention is paid to the long term of giving up.

Sorry to rant, have now applied sellotape to my mouth.

Well done again for giving it up. Look after yourself

Well done to you Mabsie for giving up. It took me quite a while before my body settled down and getting rid of the gung in my lungs, i seemed to pick up anything going. I started on different supplements to help such as magnesium, vit d/c and changed my diet. I was lucky then as my chest was alot better and the bronchiectasis which i didnt know about was very mild. Mkre than anything you need to get rid of this infection, get the sample to the doctors quickly. Try to have some time outside if the weather is fit enough and rest up until you are better. Wish you all the best x
