Oh dear JAS, what a terrible state of affairs eh? On top of everything else you have going on,it doesn't seem fair does it? Surely you will have to go to your GP or the hospital coz you can't carry on like this........ even you !!! You may need some proper pain relief from the sounds of it. Keep us updated won't you. Thinking of you.

in reply toSquirrelsHolt

Hi SquirrelHolt doctor wanted me to go hospital but I told him what I thought about that

Codine seems to work but think it’s no good for heart Really so don’t like taking them unless emergencies.

Am hoping my nerves rotted a bit in my back and not as sensitive BUT no such luck yet

Well Jeff , sounds like the norm for us . I've just got over a back flare up causing leg pain. Now they think I have torn a ligament in my other leg, so can appreciate how you feel. This is so unfair and they think the simple answer is a bottle of pills. If I walk they think I'm fine how about you? What if it is something else without tests (which is becoming the NHS norm) how can the dr know for certain. Of course in the old days there were no machines we did just have to take codeine before it became a prescription drug only, or maybe an aspirin or two and grin and bear it if the pain got worse. I have tried everything to lower the pain how about you ? Weight baring is bad, but I have got a lot of weight to carry I guess. Exercise does not improve the pain does it for you ? Enjoy day best you can & sorry to hear you are in Pain.

Hi Katie defo agree about pills .. ligament gosh did wonder that myself ITs Easy To rip bit bone 🍖 off when have bone issues too.

I try not to think worse and I forget bad news quite easy these days.

But checked my legs my self for swelling or redness as that could be blood clots O and numbness

But I just had pain .... don’t think is any quick fixes BUT like a professional surviving

I think as professional Dieased we should set up a Union

Suffragette’s did

Workers did

Footballers did

Teachers

Prison workers did GOSH what is up with us are we sick or something lol

I've seen a lot of physios and osteopaths over the years. Each one has given me a few stretching exercises which I do every morning, and really help me control the back pain I get from old RTA injuries in 1977. Gentle stretches can help.

Hi Ergendl cheers doctor give me load stretches to do totally forgetting am not valiant TOLD him is he having laugh AM guy who applying deep heat to each check of my ....

My GP gave me a sheet of exercises for my back and advice for lifting, most of which I can't do because I only have a 90 degree bend in my right knee. Believe me, the stretches advised by people who work with bad backs all day, do make a great deal of difference.

Hi Ergendl. I had a back injury some years ago and had a course of 10 physio sessions, but that was then, and from time to time I get pains in my back. Do the stretches and exercises you were given have a name that I can look up online? I'd be keen to try something that could help. Thanks 👍

Don't think so, as I've gathered them over the years. I would need to describe them to you. I usually do 6 reps of each, and do each one slowy.

The first set I do standing up: turning the head one way then another, sliding the hands down one leg then the other, swimming through the air with one hand then the other, reaching for the star one way then another, supporting back and bending backwards, bending down to touch the toes, then throwing my arms round in backward circles to relax the muscles.

The second set is done lying on the bed. First with legs flat, stretch one leg down, then the other, then clench the knee joints and then the buttocks. Then with knees bent move one hip towards the foot then the other; and then twist the legs sideways one way so that the lower knee is as near to the bed as possible, and repeat with the other.

I'm running out of time to list the rest as I've got to go and run my singing group, but this gives you an idea. If you'd like more of them, just say.

Wow thanks for taking the time to write all that. I will give the exercises a go and see what happens 👍

I sympathise. September last year I ended up crawling around the house for 2 weeks until I could get to a specialist in Bangkok 530km away. Thought it was my osteoarthritic hip gone again but turned out to be a slipped disc. Had microsurgery and have inherited a bit of back pain and stiffenss, but nothing like the sciatiaca stuff.

There's always something else to challenge you once you hit your 60s.

Must go for a swim now - have to try to keep flexible and breathable.

in reply tosantisuk

Hi Santisuk microsurgery o no not for me that prefer to crawl WAS offerd that years ago and was to stoned on codine to follow out up.

Better ways to stay flaxable think than swimming but that’s young guy speaking

So sorry to hear this. I know the feeling - have been in acute agony for nearly 3 weeks with what they think is trapped nerve in neck (c4/5) sending horrendous nerve pain into arm and hand with pins and needles. The pain is unbelievable! I got prescription pain meds and only the massive co- codamol x2 vaguely gave me some relief. Even the gabapentin and amytriptiline did nothing. I just felt totally drugged and weird. Let us know how you get on and good luck!!

in reply toHellodolly

I can’t belive only give you that THATs same as I have and it’s only my L5S1

Have to be careful with that your suffering did they not even give you neck brace

I would defo see them about that

Hellodolly profile image
Hellodolly

Thank you - saw a physio who told me to do neck exercises but I was wondering about the brace. To be fair the doctor offered tramadol but I’m still working and being totally drugged is not an option. The pins and needles are worse so I’ll see someone again this week.

I hope your life is getting better for you and your dad.

in reply toHellodolly

Hi Hellodolly have seen physio in action I don’t think much about what the do really as can have you do mad things.

I would ask about neck brace as you don’t want things getting worse.

Physio are not doctors really
