I have Bronchiectasis i have been on antibiotics how for 8 days with a chest infection and I am still coughing a lot it’s a nightmare can’t go out

Doesn't sound as though the antibiotic is that effective. I'd get back to my GP if I were you although there have been times when I have not got relief until near the end of a two week course.

Hi bronchi1 I've been diagnosed with copd and have been full of mucos and coughing for 5 weeks. Dr just keeps saying I have another lung infection and gives me another 5 day course if amoxil. Any advice.

Sputum sample to the surgery when you are not on antibiotics. If you are not au fait with mucous clearance, see the physiotherapist or check on here for advice. BTW five days antibiotics is insufficient - bronchiectasis protocol is treatment for 14 days. Sounds like you need to see a consultant who knows about bronchiectasis, if you don't already have one.

Has the GP sent a sputum sample off?

And don’t forget most people who have bronch. need a 14 day course before an infection is cracked (and not always then I know so that a sputum test may be necessary etc) so perhaps you’re being - understandably - a bit inpatient. You need to extra chest clearance, rest, eat well etc etc. Sorry but it can take time.

Has your Dr taken a sputum test, that way they can sort the right antibiotics for you, ask for one.
