Pleural Thickening

Hi,

Anyone on line suffering from Asbestosis - Pleural thickening?

Mine surfaced in 2000, though the only time I have used asbestos was for a short time in 1969. What medication do you have, and has it changed recently? I currently have oxygen (from concentrators, or portable cylinders), Spiromax 320/9mcg (2 shots) and Briatus 10 mcg daily. I keep a steroid and antibiotic rescue pack at home which I self-administer if I get a chest infection.

I also did a lung-gym course at Ysbyty Gwynedd (Bangor hospital) a couple of years ago which I found amazing, but could only sign up for one series of 8 sessions; no local gyms offer similar exercise using oxygen under medical guidance unfortunately.

I worked with Asbestos for over 10 years and even though I have scarred lungs and RLD, COP, IPAH and a few other things they have never said it is because of Asbestos? Our GP Practice does not do Rescue packs as they state it could mean I get used to AB's? I feel this is a little condescending on their part but they will not budge. I must say that the usual suspects of AB's do not touch me when I get an infection so I do see the logic in their argument a bit.

I have been offered more than one PR course at our hospital so maybe it is a postcode issue like so many others? However I was told that I have exercise intolerance so they will not take me now.

As for Oxygen I am asked at Hospitals all the time what O2 I am on at home but do not have any O2? As for going to the gym I think that is a good idea what I would suggest is get info from your GP/Specialist to see what levels you should aim for Pulse etc.

I wish you well.

Be well

Hi Geoff my husband John has just been diagnosed with methesolimia cancer which for people who know is in the lung lining x unfortunately after he had a biopsy he caught a very severe chest infection and has been in hospital now for over 2 weeks x we don’t yet know the outcome as until he’s back home no discussions can take place x we think either papworth or Leicester will be looking after him x we would’ve interested in hearing from anyone else who is in a similar situation
