Pleural rub

Hi. I had a Pleurodesis using Talc when I was 16, I am now 37 and have been having these symptoms, which I can only describe as Pleural Rub, on and off for about 10 years. I was just wondering if anyone else, who has had a similar operation, are experiencing the same thing? Thanks,

Hi I am not sure what a Pleural Rub or Pleurodesis is. Can you explain a bit more? x

Hi, a Pleurodesis is an operation that is performed as a result of a recurring collapsed lung. The lining of the lung(Pleura) is irritated usinget Talc, causing it to become inflamed which will result in the lung sticking to the inside chest cavity wall. Pleural rub is what I think I am experiencing, It is a rubbing sensation like if you were to rub a wet finger over a balloon. Hopefully this helps. Could really do with some answers on this????

Hi, this is an unusual one. Try ringing the BLF nurses, who will be able to offer information and advice. You will get them on 03000 030 555 and they are open office hours. Good luck.

Hya, I too have had both lungs operated on due to recurring collapsed lungs but silly me isn't sure which procedure I had done, first one was 1976 (6 yrs old) and second one was 1988 (18 yrs old) I too get weird feelings particularly in my more recent one, sometimes aches and what feels like rubbing and even hear noises!! I also have bronchiectasis in both lungs, glad to hear though it isn't just me xx
