Some people encounter an issue if they were on DLA higher rate mobility but didn’t get enhanced mobility when they claimed PIP.

Always worth appealing.

Hi

A lot of people who obtained a blue badge through assessment rather than the DLA/PIP process. Have had to be reassessed this was due to change to the application. It was to weed out the false claims, but seems they got over exited and over used the weed killer. So many have had fight their corner despite it being blatantly obvious that the need was there.

Mind you if your using a American and French companies to oversee U.K. benefits, recipe for disaster.

Hi,

If you are considering appealing this decision, it may help to quote the Department for Transports Blue Badge Local Authority Guidance, relating to lung and heart conditions and the physical difficulty walking.

assets.publishing.service.g...

See page 21 - reference to breathlessness due to e.g. emphysema

See page 22 - reference to lung or heart conditions.

If you want to chat about this, give me a call - 03000 030 555 - and book in for a chat next week.

All the best,

Biddy

Thank you I have had to reapply . I it gets refused I will need to appeal . I am surprised at the attitude if my local council . This is my second time if renewal

There have been no issues in the past . The only thing is a different council . I thought it was the same system across Scotland.

Now you have me worried. I live in Scotland and my badge is due for renewal in October.

I am on high rate DLA so I was assuming that it would just be a rubber stamp job.

Good luck.

Yes. My first badge 3yrs ago I obtained as I have severe COPD.had to produce documentation such as hospital appointments etc. Had to renew 2mths ago but was refused. I do not receive any benefits invalidity etc. If you do it's automatically renewed. I receive attendance allowance higher rate but this does not count. I asked Why I got it 3yrs ago and was told it was concessionary .When I explained my condition dies not get better I was asked to get a letter from either my Doctor or Respiratory nurse stating how far I can walk and my condition .I got this and my badge was renewed I am annoyed I have to go to all this trouble because I never claimed invalidity etc. Apparently if you need sticks to walk that helps. I was fortunate the lady at the Council office was sympathetic and she helped. Hope you get it sorted.

Hi folks . After waiting 6 months I am eventually getting my blue badge back. Thank you Biddy for your advice.

I had to appeal , have an independent assessement , and deal with a lot of incompetence . But thankfully my blue badge should arrive within the neek few day. So for anyone applying hang in there and be prepared for what ever is thrown at you .
