Finally a consultants appointment

So since 26th March we finally have an appointment with either mums consultant or a member of the thoracic team. Really hoping after all of this time we get a diagnosis and if our worst fears are realised they’ve at least thought of a treatment plan which can be started straight away. Just hope my nerves hold out until then ........

I will xx

Little hint. When you get to clinic watch to see which nurse is putting the patient records on the doctors’ piles. Approach her very very nicely and in a way that she can’t refuse ask her to put your Mum’s on the pile of the consultant. Tell her that only the consultant knows the seriousness of her problem. They are usually very helpful. I do it every time. Much better for asking questions and getting them to exlain things properly. Also in forming a relationship with the consultant.

Just had a letter asking mum to visit the Basing Unit on F floor which is where they specialise in Oncology and out patients receive chemotherapy- hard not to assume the diagnosis then 😩
