Finally getting the dreaded cough now!

Hi guys,

Since being officially diagnosed last may/June, I have been fortunate enough to be relatively free from the dreaded cough!

Until about 2 months ago, I have started having one big, deep cough in the morning when I get out of bed and have ablutions & go to wash my hands, it is like my body has moved around enough to be able to get my lungs to cough up some shit!

Usually, just one deep, deep cough, & up into the sink, goes this teaspoon of dark green/ khaki coloured sputum! It sticks like glue to the sink, It requires a lot of effort to clean it off!

I have also, started(most!.....not all days), coughing during the whole day, maybe another dozen times. Not usually as green, in fact more than not clean.

I have had antibiotics, Roxithromycin & another one, can't remember the name, neither is working, as in ,the colour is staying the same!

Advice most welcome....from anyone! PLEASE!

Thank you

Hi, have you had your sputum tested at all to see what's causing the discolouration?

If not could you ask your health professional for an appointment and a sample bottle so that testing could be done.

Collect the morning lot and take it in as soon as you can. Hopefully then the right antibiotic can be found.

I find warm drinks help bring up mucky stuff, as well as sips of water during the day. Have you been shown any lung clearance tips at all ? Moving around as much as you can can help shift stuff I find, but some times that's difficult.

Best of luck.

You need to find out which bug is on there to get the right ab. Just a suggestion. Why don’t you cough the gubbins down the toilet? So much better.

I am with you, however, l want to be able to see/judge the colour, & my eyesight is not very good, at the moment, just one of many, many health problems I have.

Might be a good idea to cough it into a tissues so that you can have a good look, then put the tissue down the toilet. Problem with the sink is that it can get stuck in the pipes even if you run plenty of water through and can result in a nasty smell.
