Hi everyone I am taking Fostair for my asthma which is very effective but also causes my voice to loose it's power I have tried all the usual things like gargling etc to no avail. So I am wondering if I took antihistamines instead would I be able to reduce the steroid in order to get my voice back has anyone tried this and do antihistamines work.

Antihistamines
Serevent and silent reflux have made my voice go more gravelly and a lot lower. Serevent has no steroids in. I'm trying some slippery elm powder as well as omeprazole to combat the reflux, and always drinking fluids after my inhalers, plus using a spacer, to help with the Serevent.
I would discuss this with your GP first, I am sure that you already know that asthma can be life threatening. Antihistamines are not and cannot be a replacement for (ICS) inhaled corticosteroids.
Hi, im on both and im ok. My voice hasnt lost power with Fostaire im on strong dose too. I do use a very large spacer to take Fostaire as can give you oral thrush, i suffered with. Now its gone. Hope this helps. Karen. Xxx
Hi Brockman, antihistamine s are for allergies, is it allergic asthma you suffer with?? I do not think they will help get your voice back. Certain inhalers have affected my voice, go see the doc. Take care Maximonkey
Have you tried eating something straight after your inhaler. I have a small coffee biscuit after mine. It clears the throat.
