Tax relief ?

Can anyone help ?i have been concidering officially designating my house as a " folly" , (religions get tax relief for designated places of worship after all) i seem to be alone that much lately im concidering officially adding hermit to my title instead of MR. , also can i claim a hermit disability to claim benefits ? Is it covered under the new universal credit system ? ,ive notified the job centre of my availability for " hermit work" as it only entails being alone so far they have not found me anything ,Anyway im off to my local valley where if i shout loud enough i can hear my echo its the nearest thing i can get to a conversation lately, 😉

Soulboy, just a quick query, you mention you are flying with Ryanair in october and as you are up for lung transplant i am assuming you are on ambulatory o2?have you used them in the past and do you use your own poc and if so how have you got on with Ryanair,i was a frequent flyer with them as i have a place in Catalunya and i intend to use them in the future again should my condition allow and i am on ambulatory.sorry to disturb your day just curious as to how they perform or serve their customers?

Hi ski , actually im not on oxygen but as we all know its coming ,my lung fuction tests have shown this but im not suitable yet , ryan air are quite good with the wheel chair through the airport and getting u on the plane, they provide oxygen if you request it for a price and they always sit you with your carer , do not pay to sit together thats just a money maker for them , im quite lucky really my stats are always ( as long as im well) between 95% and 98% so i dont need o2 during a flight ,to be honest i prefare jet2 flights those ryan air flight just seen cramped grey and the air quality is poor ( probobally psychological on my part) but they are cheap

soulboy118 in reply to skischool

Just to add im not sure about using a nebuliser during flight but im sure as long as you have a safe to fly test ( which costs about £150 )u can use it after the seat belt sign goes off

Many thanks for your reply,i am glad to hear you don't have to suffer the inconvenience of fit to fly certificates and lugging your lungs around in a machine lol

i often used jet2 as their flight times and dates where more convenient.

btw what's a carer lol i am my carer :)

I think a carer is someone who comes in does a bit of cleaning drinks your tea ,eats your food and steals your money while your distracted😉 to get serios for a mo im sure you can put your poc in the hold as long as u inform them firsy and it also has a safe to fly certificate ,hope this helps

Oh my goodness, Scruffy is Skis carer!

skischool profile image
skischool in reply to soulboy118

It's ok i am quite clued up on the procedure and a poc in the hold wouldn't be doing my lungs much good.i already have a fit to fly certificate, done under the Nhs free of charge and it only needs to be updated if my condition changes or deteriorates.

As for the carer my wife had one 2 times a day and the social charged me £1000 a month for the pleasure so they didn't need to steal from me,they had already done so by direct debit.thanks again and have a nice afternoon.it's sunny in manchester,a rarity indeed.

My Consultant wouldn't give me a FTF, I have to ask the Insurance Company. As I am on Oxygen, with a Lung Capacity of 26% she said it was Risky. I was on the Transplant List for 3 years, No calls. I hear what your saying about being too serious, I too over time have always been Positive and Ready to help any one on here asking for advice. But, sometimes we all get a bit Dispondent, and Life goes on as we have to hang on to it. I am now awaiting for my Consultant to Confirm The CT Scan from last Friday. Hope they find my Valves and Make them Right so I can Breathe and not rely on 24/7 Oxygen. In the meantime, I shall carry on Dancing, Drinking, Swearing just for the Hell of it. Good Luck to you Hun on your Flight and pending "Listing for Transplant" xxx

soulboy you are a windup merchant. I thought you were serious and started to google “ apply for hermit status” etc.. then I woke up and laughed.

Sorry about that posyp i just think we should all not forget our sense of humour and not lose ourselves to our illnesses, life is short as we know ,my god yesterday i was 17 care free no respinsibilities and thought i was indestructible and today im 61 have a myriad of illnesses under the auspices of copd and awaiting to see if im offered a place on the transplant list ,saying all that i think we should all laugh love and stay posotive as much as we can one thing we can guarantee on is change ,so love the good times ,endure the bad times because nothing lasts forever and thats about as serious i want to get ,reet ive gotta go walk my whippet by canal like all us good northers do so ill tip my cap to you and wish thee all besst m' aam .😃😉

While you are down the canal with your whippet (I love whippets) I’ll be out across the field with my German Shepherd and my Staffie X Sharpee. The Staffie cross is nearly 14 now, but still can rouse a sense of fun. TheG.S.D. nearly 3, is fully trained to look after my safety. Only trouble is she has to come everywhere with me, including the bathroom, which isn’t so bad but I draw the line at her sharing my shower. I also often dog sit my daughters Labradoodle who is as big as a small donkey, and has a wonderful temperament. I love dog training, and I am very intrigued by the fact that more and more dogs are becoming Service dogs, Support dogs, Emotional support dogs, dogs who warn their owners of impending attacks of epilepsy and various other conditions, and etc. Not forgetting of course guide dogs for the blind.

Many dogs (not more than 3yo) are being taken from rehoming sanctuaries to be trained as Service dogs, and Support dogs. This is in England, I guess it’s the same in USA etc. Many lucky homeless dogs are imported from, for example Europe, to be trained in the UK as Service or Support Dogs.

Many children (and adults of course) who are under the Autistic spectrum can benefit greatly from the company of a suitable dog and ponies can also be beneficial to Autistic youngsters.

Sorry, I’ve just realised how much I’ve said. Better stop now, don’t let me get started on the benefits of Equines for the disabled, or the physically impaired. There is a thriving “Riding for the disabled” establishment very near me, and what lovely people run it 👼🐴🐎. PosyP

Your not going on at all posyp ( but if i put your reply in hard back form war and peace has a new competitor for longest book ever ,lol you know im joking) i love dogs the best dog i ever had was a heinz 57 type ( mongrel) i had that lad for 17years from being 4yrs old till i was 21 ,im sure he had a part time job spying on the russians because he always found me was always waiting at the top of my street when i came home from school and always disappeared on a sunday to get a sly sunday dinner off one of my elderly neighbous ( which we only found out yesrs later) i loved that dog ,had a few more after him but he will always be my favourite ,its good the things they are using dogs for these days ,i think my nose is sharp but noting like those bundle of happiness has, sorry im a little worse for wear after all those party pies etc and i swear that " cask ale" we tried was brewed in a hobo's sock ,yuk but we all got to listen to some great music ,have a lovely day posyp

I have two of my grankids every friday and believe me thats enough ,they are two boys and its like watching an old tom and jerry cartoon lol but i love them to death ,i have to laugh while ones phone was broke and being fixed i had to put a timer on the other so they only got half hour each ,it was laughable watching them eyeballing each other as it neared the 30min mark ,reminded me of the old gun fight at the ok corral lol ,have a nice day

soulboy118 in reply to Comino2

Glad you enjoy the banter ,i know people have serious health issues on this site ( believe me i REALLY know those issues) but we mustnt let these illnesses define us, we are still us ,i used to love dancing, that i cant do anymore without looking like an extra from the living dead series ,i love nature so if i cant get to it i bring it to me ,i take the animals back to the sifari park afterwards honestly ,the local car wash place keeps wondering i have got elephant and lion poo in the back of my car 🤪 ,well its 06.07 am so its porridge and blueberries time for this old soulie ,have a good day

Comino2 profile image
Comino2 in reply to soulboy118

I'm with you on the dancing.I do a bit of fancy footwork sitting on the chair and maybe a few windmills with the arms,we have got to keep moving, some tunes get you that way even years later, shut your eyes and you're "out on the floor "...... use it or lose it they say and the best one.dance as if no one is watching [luckily] Music has been my saviour through the emotional rollercoaster that is lung disease.A tune going round in my head is always preferable to those negative thoughts that can sneak in.Definately love the banter and you do not sound like an old soul even if you are an old soulie,Enjoy your day. P.S maybe an air freshener in the car ? :-) xx

soulboy118 profile image
soulboy118 in reply to Comino2

Air freshners kill me as do strong cleaning chemicals ,i used to love the smell of womens perfumes but i can only stand a mere hint of them now ,piry really ,your right about me being an old soulie ,thats the influence of my oldest brother who was a mod ,he introduced me to soul music when i was a kid, im lucky really ive stayed posotive through my 14yrs of this illness ,its been hard at times but that was just me not accepting it now though ive learned to cope and accept to take life at a slower pace but as to giving up or in ,absolutely not ,im in the mood for a bit of junior walker so ill take my leave and wish you well

Comino2 profile image
Comino2 in reply to soulboy118

Of course, air freshener, silly suggestion.I cannot get in a taxi if it has a dangley tree swinging in the front.Leave them in the forest where they belong ! I was concerned for your social life with the eau de safari in your transportation.I was lucky enough to see Junior Walker and the Temptations on the same bill back in the day .....great memories.Has your older brother still got his scooter :-) hop on the back and get down to Brighton in august [only joking] where they filmed quadrophenia as its the 40th anniversary of its release and i'm sure there will be quite a gathering and a lot of scooter fumes..I digress, you, in the words of the master "live a life free and easy"and at your own pace, take care and best wishes xx

Hi soulboy, Nice to meet you.hope u dont mind me barging in on your post but noticed that there is a fit to fly test costing £150 approx what is this do u have to get one done if u have copd. . I've only been diagnosed in January and all the guys I've met so far through this site have been great but hey ho I've got a lot to learn. You say you dont need oxygen and sats and everything ok are u still mild copd. Hope u dont mind all the questions Mx

soulboy118 profile image
soulboy118 in reply to

Hi dog12, i dont mind at all you asking questions ,as to the safe to fly test go to your gp or copd nurses if your inder ghem and request one (to be honest as your mild you know if you can walk through the airport and up the steps onto the plane yourself if you can do that fine then ive no doubt you will be ok but if your worried and for piece of mind get it done ,if your stats at rest are 95%and above naturally thats a pass according to my copd nurse

As to myself im at 18%lung function but my stats have been excellent and im at stage four ,that little lung function i have left is working very well ,believe me i can get very out of breath and do get panic attack (very rarely now) but i push on through ,stairs i hate and im limited to about a 10 minuite walk a day but thats ok this is my life now and im damn well gonna enjoy what i have left ,hope you dont mind but if your still smoking stop, keep as fit as you can ,eat well dont drink to much and if you can find the funny side of anything then please do,this disease wint stop the best you can do is slow it down ,good luck m8

Stay well

in reply to soulboy118

Oh thank you do so much soulboy. I didn't mean to pry about yourself but what a positive person you are. I get the jist for the plane but I'm a big time panicker.Never used to be but hey ho I'm hoping in time I'll get used to this bloody feeling of doom. You have the attitude I am aiming for so I can saftely say you are a star at being so frank. I hope we talk again soon you take care of you my friend. Mx

soulboy118 profile image
soulboy118 in reply to

Flying is difficult ,the nerves start and that can esculate ,it doesnt help knowing the oxygen saturation is lower on a plane but those fresh air vents above your seat are a god send, learn some easy breathing excercises they can also help with panic attacks

Thanks for replying. Think I'll give flying a miss this year and concentrate on getting in top top condition (that's my no1 goal now). I have stopped smoking 6 years ago but now and again lift the vape pen and now have hot to get rid of it too asap but not happened yet. Trying really hard. Speak soon MX you take care
