Hello TerryG, not good! Time to contact the landlord if you have one - or find a safe way of getting rid of the mould and a way to keep it at bay 😊

Thank you

Black mould is only a problem if it’s disturbed - it’s presence obviously isn’t great, but rest assured that as long as it’s not touched, you’re actually pretty safe in the interim. When it comes to being treated, ideally you should be out of the house for 48 hours after the mould has been treated (and during it being treated goes without saying) as spores are known to be airborne for that length of time. If you can’t leave the house, then the room should be closed off and you shouldn’t go anywhere near it until the 48 hours has passed. Then it’s a case of minimising the chances or extent of recurring mould - where we live, it’s an incredibly common issue due to the age and construction of the town and our damp climate, so we’ve dealt with it as long as my daughter with respiratory issues has been alive. Following this advice given to us by medics, she’s not caught aspergillus yet.

Good luck.

I guess I have COPD now also. I have Bronchiectasis but lately I've read they are referring to it as COPD. Anyway, like u, I do fairly well til I catch something. Then it turns into pneumonia and it lasts a good 6 mo's or more. I want to purchase a space helmet to wear, LoL. I also found mold in our Condo, my hubby even paid for a company to come out and test the air. They told him it's better than the outdoor air. Really? I don't know but I have mold on my dishcloth that Bleach won't destroy. After I wash it, it comes back so I have to throw it out. Also have this stuff on my windowsills and on a plastic paddle I use to push the garbage down the sink with. Yuck. I bought some activated charcoal squares that are supposed to stop the mold but they don't work for me.
