Filling a gap.

I write a lot of poetry

As most on here will see

I'm sure that many wonder

Just why that should be

Wordsworth with his wandering

And other poets might be

Much better at it than I am

But they haven't got COPD

So their poems rarely mention.

Breathlessness and coughs

So I'm filling a gap in the market

If anyone out there scoffs

Morning Mr.D. and my first chuckle of the day! Who knew you'd be able to find the funny side of COPD?

Aww love love this .. don’t think I’ve ever read a poem with copd in it! Huge hugs xx

in reply to Candyred

Well you have to admit, Rosie, it loses some of it's charm. 🙄

I wandered lonely in a cloud

That floats on high o'er vales and hill

When all at once I saw a crowd

Of people who looked rather ill

Wheezing and coughing beneath the tree

A group of folk with COPD

It will only loose the charm if you let it! .. huge hugs Mr D xx

Hi don-1931. I like the idea of poetry just for us laboured breathers lol. Another laugh out loud rhyme, it certainly brightens my day xxx love burs xxxx

Thanks again Don. How about filling another gap and getting ‘gob’ in.🤭

He liked to play a little tune,

By gobbing in a brass spittoon. (Not good breakfast reading.)

Makes me think of those big old Victorian pubs.

Absolutely... tell it as it is. A lot of poets had consumption of course. Not quite the same.

Keep them coming.

Really cheers us up and keeps us going.

I am going to put a spanner in the works, sorry Don.

My fellow country man the asthmatic Dylan Thomas wrote a short story , ' Extraordinary Little Cough'

Not a poem though, so you are still the COPD poet

Better than the original in my opinion Don. Now write one for me please, Bronchiectasis!

You have to be joking, I can't even say it! 🤔

If you’ve got one of those unpronounceable diseases

Or just wracked with coughs and sneezes

Don Rhymer comes along and the opportunity he seizes

To write us a poem and everyone he pleases 👍

Oh I do like that, thank you. 👏😀

I didn't remember seeing it either but I didn't like to say especially as I don't have a good excuse (to say I have chocolate fudge brain could seem crass and insensitive). I hadn't realised you're having chemo. I hope it's all going ok and you're as well as can be 💐

in reply to HungryHufflepuff

I write a lot of forgettable stuff so don't beat yourself up. 😄

Lol HungryHufflepuff chocolate fudge brain sounds simply scrumptious, I would really enjoy that I am sure and would happily swap - thank you for your good wishes, I really appreciate your sentiments :-)

in reply to majji

It wasn't a memorable piece so it doesn't surprise me that you don't recall it. 😄

But the old search engine dragged it back up just the same.
