Pneumonia recovery
Start by getting out of bed. Sit in a chair for meals. Eat balanced diet. It takes time. Be patient.
Hi, sorry you're having such a difficult time. Allow your body to rest as much as possible, it takes a very long time to recover from pneumonia. Take your time with everything you do and rest in between tasks.
Pneumonia takes quite a long time to get over , so just take your time and try little things every day .
Hope you are on the recovery road soon.

Pneumonia is very debilitating- takes things slowly. Walk around the house and maybe try to make lunch. Have lots of fluids and rest. When you are feeling stronger venture to the end of your street and back . Be patient otherwise you could end back really poorly. x
Just force yourself to move around. The more you do the better it is for you.
Your body is doing what it needs to recover. Let it. Be kind to yourself. It takes along while for your body to recover from what is a horrible illness. Small steps and you will get thear.
It's a long haul ,3 weeks after my hospital stay I was booked on a cruise to Greek islands for 2 weeks and wasn't sure I could go,but my husband got me on the ship and what a convalescence it was. all that sunshine and warm air worked wonders but it took 3 months to be fully fit
Mind you the insurance rocketed up to £1000
It took me around 5 months to feel ‘normal ‘. I started with 5 minute tasks followed by a lot of rest. Empty the dishwasher. Put laundry in machine. Chop a couple of vegetables. I remember needing a half hour rest after putting laundry on the line!! You will soon see improvement so don’t be tough on yourself.
We all feel for you. I had a lung abscess, now bronchiectasis. The antibiotics made my legs so weak, the whole thing had me very tired. As others said, do some easy standing leg and arm exercises from time to time (not too much). I knew to pace myself and set little goals each day. Good food, lots of fluids and I always take supplements. It took much longer than I thought and liked. It is important to adjust your expectations, pace and set small achievable goals each day. Hoping you feel better day by day.
Accept, don't fight it. It can take months to get back to any kind of normal after pneumonia so be good to yourself, certainly don't beat yourself about not recovering faster, don't feel inadequate or less than yourself.
Pace yourself, rest frequently, invest in a good tonic, healthy diet. When I was in the same position friends brought me meals occasionally and bought ready meals from M&S. 6 weeks isn't long enough. Those of us who've been there will say the same: don't do too much too soon, you'll take even longer to recover if you do. Good luck. P
I’m seven months on from my pneumonia and I’m still not back to normal. It used to be nothing to stay up until twelve one o clock at night. Now I go to bed between ten and eleven. It takes time. Just do a little as you feel able. I remember my Son said to me that I ought to get myself up and dressed in the morning and go out for a walk. I told him that when I was ready I would do it. I am doing it now and have been for a while but it’s nothing to doze off in the evening where I’m so tired. I don’t think people realise how much pneumonia takes it out of you.
