Definitley not a robin
He looks like some kind of finch judging by the shape of the beak but not sure. Xxxx
Chaffinch or brambling maybe xxx
Think it's a male Crossbill a member of the finch family xxx
Thankyou it was annoying me I have seen a few around early morning but they don't sit still for very long always busy with work lucky to have got this one and couldn't match it up on Google ππ
Good morning, it's a beautiful bird and definitely looks like it below NHS to the Finch family. Another love photo to brighten up the day thank you. Have a lovely day π Bernadette xx
Maybe red crossbill?? But at my view, canβt see the characteristic over hang of top bill.
Chaffinch
Whatever he is called, he is magnificent. Another great photo. Thank you.π
It looks very like a hawfinch, how lovely. It is unlikely to be a crossbill as they appear to be confined to Scotland.
I correct myself, the British Trust for Ornithology shows that the common crossbill is resident throughout Britain, so you are probably right in your identification. Still a lovely bird, and how privileged you are!
I know exactly what you mean πxx
Oh beautiful π¦ bird which is a Greater Orange Tailed Crossbilled Hawkfinch Adult ...which is a very rare sighting as it normally nests in our most northern areas. It's common name is taken from the first letters, so it's a GOTCHA!π
Sorry if it's not funny to anyone else but you can tell I've a lot of time on my hands and my mind does wander somewhat! Hopefully 1 person may give a little chuckle?
Wow well done you made me laugh. So quite a rarity here in the south I have seen quite a few the last month but was putting it down to a hybrid thing as it sometimes happens . I'm glad you found something to keep you occupied and brilliant for letting us all know Thank you so much ππ
As long as it's taken as intended, then nobody's offended and that's π great! (1 possible problem I can foresee,is your wonderful photography will occasionally have me making up more silly names etc. If that's ok with you because my knowledge of our feathered friends is so vast etc etc...I don't want you to think I'm making a joke of your brilliant photographs,as that would never be my intention).
Oh my goodness squirrel no offence has been taken whatsoever . I enjoy your sense of humour and honestly feel free to make the name's up as you see fit it will always be smiled upon again thankyou to you ππ
Thank you, that's very gracious of you. I have to be careful as the world we live in now, seems to demand everything is "PC" and I think to find humour,in any form,is a good thing.
I have no idea what kind of bird it is. It's a pretty bird. And, the orangish shade it posesses, is a spring colour for fashions. Especially, bags.i just read two new fashion magazines...lol.
Keep taking those great shots!!
Take good care of you!!
