Vaping and consequences

Hi,

I feel a little fraudulent here because I have no formal diagnosis of lung disease. However, i was a heavy smoker for 25 years, gave up for 15 years and took up vaping to counter stress two years ago.

Over the last two or three months I have been experiencing some very uncomfortable chest pains and mild difficulties with breathing.

I am preparing to phone the GP but I am scared about what s/he might tell me. Do you think it is possible that vaping may have caused this? I am so attached to the e-cigs that I almost dread the answer, although I think I know it already.

not smoking is brilliant and well done, as far as vaping is concerned i do not think it safe but that is only me, i tried vaping and was not good on it but it suits a lot of people and people do give up with these, but really the lung were designed for air not tobacco or vaping, it is really up to the individual to decide, just be careful,

Hi I think e-cigs is much healthier than real ciggies and I bet if there is any damage it is much more likely to be caused by the cigs themselves. It is common to have packed it in many years ago and still suffer problems when older.

It's a good idea to see a doctor and s/he will probably arrange a breathing test (spirometry). It's better to find out than not know. x

Thank you Bobbyfloyd and Hypercat. I think a visit to the doctor is in order and I will try to cut down on (even if I cannot give up) the vaping.

I smoked for years and yes I have copd. I tried the e-cigs for over a year and was feeling worse then when I smoked. I stopped and I couldn't believe how much better I felt. Please don't do either that is just my opinion. Wish you the best.

Thank you again. I have cut down on the vaping, but know I need to stop altogether. I still have not been to the doctors. Could anyone tell me the type of routine checks a GP might do if I went with symptoms of tight chest, pains in chest and back and shortness of breath. I have not been to the GP for years and feel a bit nervous about the whole thing.
