Over use of antibiotics - can Phage be the answer?

My condition is getting worse. I cough all day and most of the night whether I do my breathing exercises or not. I have had several infections and find that Doxycycline works. However am loathe to keep taking them due to the current information on TV about overuse of them. However, I watched the programme "The truth about anitbiotics" and saw someone suffering from the same disease who was taking something called a Phage which was not an antibiotic and she had not had an infection for 5 months. Is this available on the NHS or can I purchase it anywhere. My cough is so debilitating that I would try anything new. I would add that I an active person, going to the gym once a week, walking once a month and line dancing every week. I really do not know what else to do. Please help!!

Very interesting- thank you 🙏🏻

The information re overuse of antibiotics does not apply to us bronchs. We need them to battle the germs which multiply in the warm fluid which collects in the pockets in our lungs. If the doxy works for you, take it. If it is not helping have your GP send off a mucus sample in the hope that the lab isolates the bug. You may need a different antibiotic. I am oresuming that being a good bronch you are working very hard to get that mucus out of your lungs every day. It is the single mist important thing that we can do for ourselves.Phages are not available on the NHS. So far there hasn’t even been any proper trials in humans in the UK. I am watching the situation but after a long talk to my consultant, who has gone off to discuss with her fellow bronch experts, I have decided not to embark on a difficult treatment path, risk my health and loads of my cash until I know more. Especially as I have been very well on my existing treatment for over 12 months.

It is very interesting though

I saw this as well and am very keen to find out more about it/them? Lots of questions to be asked. My understanding is that this form of killing bacteria was being incremental penicillin was founded. It seems to me we need to carry on finding out more about this form of treatment. How can we find out who that lady is to see what she does to help herself?
