Post flu back/rib pain

Hi. I have just had 4 days in bed with what I think was flu. Got a cough which was really annoying yesterday and have woken up this morning with pain in my back roundabout the ribs. Nasty taste in my mouth too. I’m 50 and usually in good health, fit and well. Wondering what the back/rib pain might be and whether I should go to Dr’s for advice. Taken paracetamol for pain. Thanks in advance for advice.

Snap, I went to the doctors as my asthma symptoms were worsening and ended up with some flu bug as well....the waiting room was full of poorly children .

I have developed a pain in my ribs in my back too, so I don't know if it's a virus or not that's caused it, or if I have coughed too much ..it hurts to cough still .

I would check with your GP , are you coughing any discoloured mucus?

I’m trying not to cough as it hurts but feel there’s stuff to come up it just won’t. Awful taste in my mouth too. ☹️

I think the back and rib pain is very common with a bad cough as you tend to bruise that whole area I think. It does have an actual name but I can't think of it. Try rest take some pain killers and a hot water bottle. If it doesn't start to get slightly better after a week check with the dr.

Morning when I get infections I have pains in my back /ribs. You may have an infection. You should probably see your gp. Rest up, keep warm, painkillers will all help. Take care. Anna6. X

Hi,

I had really bad back and rib pain after the flu injection, which did wear off, but as you have that foul taste in your mouth, I would see a Dr., as it suggests you could have a viral infection that has gone bacterial. (Upper respiratory infection) You may need anti-biotics.

Take care

When ever I get an exacerbation I always get the pain in my back never in my chest .This is an infection so I think you should see your doctor .

Hope you feel better soon .
