Can someone please give some advice

Hi I just wanted to know if I got a chest infection with COPD I'm on antibiotics and steroids my stepson got a viral infection can I get it off him can you let me know please thank you

Hi Traix, always try to stay away from people with an infection. Yes you could catch the viral infection 😷 but it does not mean you will. Please try to make sure you have taken precautions to protect yourself, wear a mask if need be, as I have said before you may not always pick the infection ip. You would pick up an infection even if you did not have COPD. Having COPD myself and living with it for 12 yrs,l can tell you that at one time l was in A&E up to four times a day with infections being the main instigator.However, a few years ago a junior Doctor suggested Amoxicillin twice a day. It took appx. a month before taking full effect,but it worked and has done since.This MAY NOT work for everyone,but worth a try.Atleast l do

not spend all of my time in Hospital anymore. Luck

Once we have COPD we need to take even greater care of ourselvess. I realise it’s not always possible to keep away from others with infections but wear a mask or a scarf when out in the cold, if you can, and rest so that you heal quickly.If you are worried than a call to your nurse or gp might help put your worries to rest?

Check your temperature and colour of sputum which if green or grey or darker and you have a temperature then you probably have an infection. to help guard against getting infection I have found using "First Defense" from Boots sprayed up my nose has reduced the number of infections.
