Hi Levina I take Azithromycin 3 days a week .. I don’t think there a replacement for steroids .. can you not reduce the steroids to what suits you? I’m on them just now 8 tablets every morning .. the agitate me .. make me want to eat the entire kitchen .. cause wind .. I have the shakes .. restless legs .. oh and can’t sleep.. but they do help me greatly.. maybe speak with your doctor? X
Hi Hun, You sound like me right now, though I am weaning off Pred at the moment. Azithromycin is an amazing AB, been on it 3 years, no problems and keeps the Chest Clear. The Preds, have done their Job, feel much Better, Dread the affects of not having any to expand the lungs. Yes, I'm eating everything in sight also, Said in another Post , I am going on a Lettuce Leaf Diet today.........Do not think you can have an Alterative Steroid? Love n Hugs xxxxxxx
Hallo Thanks for your reply Yes I might try the Azithromycin I never want to go on prednisone again but then again if you can,t breath you take anything to make it better
Thanks again Hun
Hallo Thanks for your reply How many mg. a day do you take I know those steroids help but it is just that feeling you must be hungry wanting to eat the whole kichen
Would it help if you take the prednison early in the morning then you might be able to sleep a bit better All the best
May I please ask you Canyred, is Azithromycin prescribed by a specialist or is it available through ones gp?
I have read several posts here which mention it and having read up on it wonder if I would be a suitable candidate as last year I had 5 flare ups and want to avoid the same this year.
Thanks for your time.
Hello lovely ..My specialist prescribed them .. xx
Thank you so much.
I see my gp this week and want to ask him at what point does a patient with COPD get referred to a specialist.
Actually I am going armed with NICE guidelines for both COPD and GERD. Should be an interesting visit!!!!
Thanks again for your time.
