Having a lung condition makes us tired at times but for me lately as soon as I sit down for the evening (around 8pm) within half hour im sleeping 🙁. I can’t even sneaky sleep as I make awful snoring noises so I give myself away so I’m unable to pretend I’m watching the iPad while snoozing 😬 on a serious note anything that will help me stay awake? Apart from 6 strong coffees and a few red bulls from 5pm onwards them I get palpitations due to my caffeine overdose, would taking prednisolone in the evening be an option ?
I’m wide awake from the minute I wake it’s only once I relax for the evening, if I continue housework/ironing etc tiredness don’t effect me till I’m in sitting position 😁
Your so lucky to have the energy to keep going all day until around 8 pm wish I was that energetic I think you must be ready for a nap who cares if you snore just let yourself doze off.
Whilst that might work, I would suggest taking them at midday as a trial, otherwise you may end up as a night owl and sleeping all the next day.
You also have to remember that your mind and body may require more sleep, especially if you are huffing and puffing all the time which is consuming so much more energy than the healthy would be.
It sounds to me like you are doing too much if you are not finishing housework etc. until 8pm. You might be getting over tired which is why you feel so sleepy as soon as you stop. x
I don’t do too much I just potter around till relaxation time cos I know if I sit down at 5 or 6 pm I will be sleeping earlier, the weird thing is I don’t get tired all day and I wake in the morning full of energy, I drop when I stop and not until 😁
You have a lung condition, one of the symptoms is tiredness. Family and friends should be aware. If I don't take Pred first thing in the am I can be awake all night and that is not good for anybody
Hi nik72 theirs your answer change you other half for a more conciderate one that understands your illness best of luck
I wonder if it is worth yougetting your oxygen levels checked? I could sleep for Britain when mine is low! Best not take steroids at night. The night gets very long when you can’t sleep. Hope you find a solution.
Boy oh boy, we know what tired can be like. Very crippling at times😐. Reading your post, I was a bit concerned by how much caffeine you are having. Energy drinks like Red Bull give you a false sense of energy. Many students take these at exam time to keep them awake to study here in Japan. (I know because when I taught secondary school we had to "inform" kids that energy drinks were harmful when taken in large quantities) . Fifteen to twenty minutes after having these drinks the caffeine enters the blood stream and we feel "energetic". An hour later once the caffeine has been absorbed we experience a sugar crash making us more tired than we were before. But I suspect you know this anyway.
I think getting proper rest as your body needs is so important. Ignoring it, and instead trying to push yourself beyond your limit is definitely detrimental. In the end it all builds up and at some point you will just crash. So do take it easy on the energy drinks, be kind to yourself and get proper rest.
Sending best wishes,
Cas xx 🌱
P.S. Predisone definitely keeps me awake, so I take it in the morning and not at night. I would advise taking it as advised by your doctor.
I suffer from fatigue I think due to bronchiectasis and rheumatoid so take ginkgo biloba, which does help somewhat, but I do tend to nap after dinner if I am feeling really tired. I think you should have a nap when your body needs it, it helps to repair damaged cells. As others have stated I would lay off energy drinks and coffee, so no good for you. X
I know this feeling and sometimes want to go back to bed as soon as I have got up! Energy drinks would be a definite no-no as far as I am concerned, try to reduce your caffeine levels particularly in the evenings. More plain water would help. I don't take any medications but do have a half hour power nap each afternoon when my energy dips (usually after lunch) This seems to work for me. Good luck!
The docs recommended I take predisolone at 6am to help with sleep problems- it did help a bit. I think the oxygen level check suggested earlier may be an idea. I crash out when my levels are low to. Maybe a medicine review might help- taking them at different times. Don't k ow otherwise- good luck.
you are totally killing your health. I used to be like you. Low on energy and relying on coffee and energy drinks. I quit. I have found a better and healthier solution.
I take some pills made from natural herb extracts containing caffeine and L-Theanine. This does the trick for me. Really effective
