I'd like to take the opportunity to use the forum as a reminder to check and update your ICE details if you use a mobile phone. As the holiday period nears & safety on the roads adverts begin it seems a quick check would be sensible.
So, I will now part the waves of cyberspace to ask you to take a few seconds, get that phone from where its hiding and punch those keys. Just a small way to assist in times of trouble.
Heres hoping we never need to use this.

Hi there, thank you for reminding us about ICE details. But recently I had a fall and ended up struggling with a broken shoulder to ring my son for help, the firemen who where first on the scene just kept asking for my phone number. It seems this is not a fully recognised process by all emergency service personel. Many of these so called emergency help systems aren't as good as they seem.
Hiya mrsoxo, I feel they dont remind people about ICE thinking its policy so they know, that's one of the reasons I like to put a little reminder out now and then.
Shame on your responders for not being aware.
We did a drill and firefighters were involved, it was quite comical watching them try to use mobiles with their big gloves on. And yes, I got lost and managed to find my way to their changing rooms at the airport!
Had to smile at your reply just thinking of them trying to push buttons or touch screens with those big gloves on. But I have still got an ICE number on my phone and many of the group of older people I am involved with. Think I will have to change my oxo sign in as its gravy granules now
