How long does it take recover from pleurisy? I am on antibiotics but really tired and have pain.

A good few weeks, although after a week it should gradually ease. You can take paracetamol and ibruprofen to help with them pain and use a hot water bottle. Lots of warm drinks, water and rest. If it's not easing within 2 weeks go back for an X-ray

Thanks. Going to have to be patient and give antibiotics time to work.

Ages! Do go back to doc if it's still bad after course of abs won't you. They hear pleurisy through the stethoscope so can soon tell.

I know I can't take ibruprofen with asthma so I took paracetamol when the pain was bad & at night to get a decent sleep.

Do take care. For me, pneumonia was diagnosed a week after pleurisy dx & the combination took months to come back from. P

When I was 40 it took a week. Sadly the older you get the longer it takes. Take it easy and let it take its course. Best wishes for an early recovery.
