Pleurisy

So a little over last month I was sitting at my desk when all of a sudden my chest was building up with heaviness and pain, I laid down sweating with arm pains then passed out (me and the doctors still can not determine whether this was just sleep or blacking out) a week after it I went to my GP he immediately sent me for a heart tracing then I was taken to hospital and was not allowed to move the whole day, they took bloods, X-Rays, ECG's and did a CT, I was fine so they sent me home. A few days pass and then I become incredibly sick, a feeling of wanting to vomit constantly but never vomiting, not eating much, had to drink etc. I then go to the hospital again and have blood tests for kidney functions due to pain, they came back clear, and they wrote it off as depression due to scarring on my wrists form self harm (that was a long time ago and I never relapsed and i consider myself to be quite happy now). A few days pass the pain in my chest never stops but it gets slightly less painful, I go to the GP again and I get diagnosed with Pleurisy, I was prescribed 400mg of ibuprofen for a week which helped but my stomach started to hurt from it eventually, it helped i barely have pain now but I still get it, however now i feel sick again, yesterday I threw up and could barely stomach any food, although this does not surprise me much as the doc said it was most likely a viral infection, but now I am just scared, I am 17 and all of this has happened and I just want it to be done with, no more pain, no more worries nothing, I just want to be free from it, I have an appointment with the GP today to discuss all of this. I have been reading most of the posts on here since i was diagnosed with it and you are all amazing people and have really inspired me to keep being happy and positive thank you all for that.

Hi Vecs, that all sounds a little scary for you and it’s not nice to be feeling as you do. Speak with your doctor and make sure you tell him everything.

Wow you poor thing you’re really going through it. Keep talking to docs write down any things you want to ask in case you forget.

It always makes me cross when medics write things off as psychological before they've completed all the tests. Sorry I can't help you more. Wishing you all the best, for it to go away very soon.

So I did not go to the doctors yesterday but went today, turns out since the ibuprofen was for a week it was bound to cause problems with my stomach, since I have acid reflux anyway it has caused more problems with my stomach acid, the pleurisy is clearing and my lungs are getting better and better with time and now I have been prescribed 20mg of Omeprazole for a month and been told to come back in if there is any more problems, I spoke to my doctor about everything regarding my worries like an underlining cause etc. and I am fine so I am ecstatic. Thank you all for commenting and for your get wells I do not think I could of stopped my anxiety without being on this forum I hope if any of you are suffering with anything that it gets better soon.
