Finely was told yesterday that my CAT scan results was Emphysema .. Been struggling to breath for 2 years since my second Heart attack..and finely changed my Doctors .. as l was getting no help .. yesterday l saw the respiratory Nurse there and she gave me a new inhaler ..(Incruse Ellipta 55 . and within half an hour of taking it l could walk to the bathroom without huffing and puffing also without my knees turning to jelly and collapsing on me..
l was diagnosed with COPD years ago and my breathing gradually got worse.. l have only ever had relief from 1 inhaler and that was Spirivia .. which my old Doctors took me off it..
now this new inhaler has given me my breathing back after just one puff .. it’s a 24 hour one .. Due for my next puff at 3 pm .. l had lost all hope of ever being able to stand on my legs again .. for any length of time .. l am limited to do so as l have Arthritis in my Spine . but now l have relief from the Breathing just hoping it lasts ..

What a time of it you've had. It has really been hard for you. Excuse me for asking, but besides the inhaler are you on any other medication? And may I ask why your doctor took you off Spiriva?
I am sorry also to read about your arthritis. Do you get any help with daily housework etc? I don't have Emphysema, but I do have a lung condition and sympathise totally. I am glad the new inhaler is helpful. Please take it easy and do let us know how you are getting on.
Thank you Cas l am on Symbicort200/6.2puffs twice a day.My previous Doctor took me off my Spirivia when l was given the Symbicort.and told me to continue with my Fostair twice a day. They did not help me but made me worse. now l just have the Symbicort and Incruse Ellipta.. and it seems to be working for me. at last ..
My Hubby does the housework ..
Sorry you have lung problems too .. Hope meds are working for you and helping .. xxx
Hi there. The Spiriva that doctor took you off is a LAMA, Long- Acting Muscarinic- Antagonist the same type of medicine that your new inhaler Incruse Ellipta is and both will work along with your Symbicort, which is a combination ICS/LABA .... corticosteroid and Long-Acting Beta-Agonist to maximise treatment for your condition.
The doctor who removed your Spiriva needs a kick up the backside back to med school.
Hi John yes that’s the reason l left my old Docs as l was not getting any sense from them .. and my breathing was getting worse by the week .. Thank you .
Hope you get to improving...I'm on Symbicort and Proair is my rescue inhaler....but I seem to need something more or different. I've been on this for five years now. Feel better soon!!!!
Hi Thank you l had no Scans years ago just blew into a hand held spiro meter
and told it was COPD l had never heard of it and came home with leaflets they gave me to read about it .. l had gone to Docs because l was puffing and panting when l walked up the street small incline .they gave me brown puffer and ventilin.. which did not help me in fact l collapsed and spent few weeks in hostpital.. where l was told l had Asthma and on Beclazone and Servent. and then on Fostair and Spirivia.the Spirivia was the only one that worked for me but it was only small amount and lts good effects did not last long .. this is longest i’ve had with normal breathing .. in years ..
