How can I tell the difference between if it’s my back muscles hurting or it’s the back of my lungs hurting. I taken some oramorph but it hasn’t helped this time. But it’s extremely painful. Any help please, I am desperate.

Hi. The lungs don't have many pain receptors, so it's usually the overstretched intercostal muscles that are hurting, or pleurisy. Have you had your pain checked out by a doctor? I did and he was quite dismissive, saying it was caused by intercostal muscles overstretching. I can stop it happening too much by taking my reliever inhaler before doing anything active, and I can treat it by massaging the sore muscles and stopping the diaphragm from cramping - techniques shown to me by an osteopath.

So the first thing to do is get your pain checked by a doctor. When you have the diagnosis you can work out what to do next.

Do let us know how you get on.
