The valve implants were successful, yesterday, and I'm off home tomorrow. I'll wait and see how much air I lose and how much more capacity I get :). The "down" side is that the valves were intended for the right lung, but that turned out to be so much mush that the surgeon put the valves in t'other.
I must admit that having my legs leaping about with the pressure pads was very different -- and the sensors on various bits of my body were incredibly -- well, sensitive -- so if I moved, they went off. That put paid to my knitting...

Bye heck, that surgeon must have been a decisive chap. Imagine standing there with two valves in your hand wondering what to do with 'em.

Hi Catnap, I had sent you a Comment on your Success on your First "Today's The day". earlier on. On this update. Did you not have a Heavy Sedation? so you were aware what was happening? My Goodness, you are very Brave, I was out completely. So happy for you, you will feel the benefits each Day, take things slowly, don't be like me, Tried too much, too soon I Have Slowed Down. I'm catching up on loads of emails... so I'll just answer your question. The general anaesthetic can't have been a very heavy one because my lungs couldn't have taken it, I believe. The surgeon won't consider me for LVRS because she said that I'd not survive the sedation. Still, I was out cold! The staff in the recovery unit were a bit surprised when I asked to go to the loo: apparently, nobody has every climbed out of a recovery bed and walked off before...
Hi Marjie, So happy your Feeling Good, it's the end result that matters. I 've been to the Gym Today. Initially I thought I was capable of doing allsorts, But I had to Slow Down, Lets walk First. I was told in theatre (small room really) that I would have a Heavy sedation as my lungs are Borderline, and they did it all in 33 minutes, Instead of the 2 I thought I was Getting, I got 4 and it was my own Consultant that did the Insertions, I was very happy about that. I was having this procedure to try and get me along the Road to Transplant, been waiting 2 years, I am Glad it was Done and Although the Weather is Glorious. it has it's problems for those of us Trying to Breathe. In A few Weeks you should feel that your Breathing is getting Better. I still have to have 02,(16H) obviously to help my other organs also. Your post made me very happy....so nice when things work out well and hospital stays are kept to the minimum. Be careful and take Hacienda and others advice ..."dont over do it". Best wishes!
That's great news and best wishes for a speedy recovery . It isn't boring to hear all the gory details as many on here have choices to make about LVRS, valves and coils so it's good to hear when someone's had one of these ops that has gone well.
