Hi Bobby and welcome. How long to get over an infection ? Well it all depends on whether the first lot of antibiotics were able to deal with it. Some infections are mild and others can knock you for six. I just deal with each as it comes. Sometimes I feel okay after a week of abs and steroids and sometimes not. We are all different so we just have to go with the flow. The best advice really is not to soldier on if you feel unwell see your GP. If you tell the receptionist that you have COPD you shouldn't have to wait weeks for an appointment. Take care, Sheila x

hi mskpjb, thank you for your reply. I had 2 courses of amoxilin and 1 treatment with another antibiotic (cant remember name of it), i also had steroids and had to give a sputum test. I also had a ct scan and i am waiting on the results....think i am dying lol. I live in Scotland and its bloody hilly and struggle getting home sometimes....on the bright side i wait until i see someone going past on a mobility scooter and jump on the back of that lol. thank you for your wisdom and i hope you are doing well. Oh i forgot to say i also have an emergency pack of abs .Take care Sheila.x

Hi bobby,I was diagnosed COPD just over 12 months ago, non smoker so it's thought my cause is industrial, once I found this forum i don't post a lot but have had brilliant advice by lots of regular contributors who know their stuff,I read the new posts everyday,it's well worth a read, the main things I can advise from what I have been advised is stop smoking if you are a smoker,I am vastly overweight so am trying to lose weight,I have changed my lifestyle, eating healthy and more important i have started swimming, gently at first now up to 30 mins a day 4 times a week, I feel much better and after 5 lots of consecutive anti biotic around Christmas last year have not had a flare up since, all this has been through advice off this forum, keep reading and just take heed of what people say, they do really know their stuff.

Hi Jollj, I was diagnosed 10 years ago, i gave up smoking 5 yrs ago with the help of a vaping pen and they really work. I take my mutt out 5 times a day and that is helping my copd, i have read a lot of posts and the info i have picked up has been fantastic and i wish i had found this site sooner. I am glad that you are getting out and about as that helps our condition, keep up the swimming and i hope you keep well .
