I find fostair very good it certainly improved my lung function. I am also on Spiriva Respimat now which has improved it even more. Most COPD sufferers are ex smokers I think. It’s best to speak to your GP to see what type of inhaler you need as there are different types I.e short and long acting. BLF also have a lot of information re treatment of COPD.
I find fostair brilliant for me although I don't have copd nor have I been a smoker. A ventolin inhaler now lasts me a year - I'm so pleased I'm costing the NHS less 😃
Yes you can get it on prescription, but bear in mind that it is being "pushed" because it's one of the cheapest available and might not be the best one for YOUR condition. There are plenty to choose from, so you should be able to get one which is best for you but, if your current medication controls your condition, I would think carefully about changing it.

Fostair is favoured by most hospitals & GP's but they tend to advise you to take it with a spacer. There are 2No types, I find the best is a large version which is a big thing you would not carry around but it allows you to breath in the inhaler better.
Your GP will know there are others, you may have to try a number to find the right one for you.

Have found Fostair the best inhaler - I too have Spiriva with it.
My mum gave me her FOSTAIR to try. I have COPD. I didn't use it and when I told the doctor in A&E he took it off me and threw it in the bin. He said "Do NOT use other ppls medication AND ESPECIALLY not this one" Take from that what you will
I was on Fostaire but it had a lot off side affects so i am now on a 3 in 1 inhaler Trimbo x
