I want to the dentist four days ago I had two teeth surgically removed. A few hours after having them removed while my face was still numb (not a good Idea) I try to take an amoxicillin, and because I couldn't feel my face I couldn't tell where the pill was in my mouth, And then I wound up inhaling the amoxicillin I believe ....like I said my face was still so numb I Could not feel it so I'm 50/50 Probably even 60/40 that it did go in my lungs. Since that day now I have been coughing up pure black mucus that looks like coal and it wasn't ever like that, I have coughed up mucus before because I am an occasional cigarette smoker I had two cigarettes in the past four days to put it in perspective....I'm not sure what's going on. I'm not sure if it's the blood from the two teeth that went into my lungs or if it's the amoxicillin or bacteria From something else During procedure or after ....I would appreciate any feedback can someone please Offer a little bit of their time and help it would be appreciated so much. Good day and God bless
P.s. Please if someone is unsure about something please do not hesitate to ask I will be ready to respond

Hi ryskee, please get an urgent appointment with your GP or failing that phone 111 and explain what has possibly happened. It needs investigating. Xxxxxx
Thank you.... That's what I was thinking of doing. Just wanted to try to get some opinions first, thank you so much for Replying to my post and taking time To care for somebody else that's hard to find in this world now..... god bless and have a good day
Hello ryskee and sorry to learn about your recent dental procedure. Like sassy59 has advised already, its most certainly a call to 111/or back to your Dentist today for him to investigate. Let us know how things went and I wish you well.
Thank you sassy59 and SquirrelsHolt.....It is very much appreciated. When I find out what's going on I will repost Hopefully it might help somebody else in the future also .....God bless And have a good day
I coughed up black stuff six months after giving up smoking. It may just be that the antibiotic did its work even though it was in the wrong area, and helped you clean out some of the smoking rubbish.
Thanks for the reply hopefully that is all it is ....In my teens and 20s I did smoke about a pack maybe even up to two packs a day. I have thought about that as a possibility, I really hope that actually is the case...Fingers crossed. Again thanks for the Feedback It is very much appreciated. Good day and God bless
Hi ,14 years ago when I was first diagnosed with this condition( emphysema) I was in hospital for nearly 6 weeks as I was so ill with bronchial pneumonia. I too was coughing up black tar like substance and they told me it was a poisonous abscesses in my alveoli .I'm not saying yours is the same but go to your doctor's or hospital to put your mind at rest .
I have look that up recently... I'm sorry you had to go through that, seems like it's a very hard thing to go through. The thing with me is that it was so spontaneous....One day coughing up very little And "normal" color mucus, and then the next-day coughing up a lot of black looking mucus. Also since then been sick altogether. As of now I am setting up an appointment with my GP but I'm probably not going to go Any farther than that unless it gets any worse.... then Hospital/e.r....Or even the local med express that I can get a quick x-ray done .....I might do that, ... if I get a little bit worse.
Well thank you for your time and your feedback very much appreciated. Good day and God bless
Hi, sorry you are having these problems, try to get them sorted by your GP. There are possible reasons for your mucus, maybe you have just started a process that should have already occurred. You have standby meds for what reason? The action may have brought up mucus that has made you feel bad. Are you on any other medication ? do have a treatment of "Zometa" which is usually in a drip form?. The antibiotic may not be right for you or you may need a bigger dose?
Yeah I'm getting ready see my GPs soon...The meds that I had was only the medication that the dentist gave me antibiotics and pain medication, Had no standby medication wish I did Never hurts to have antibiotics lying around. And I'm not on any other medication. But either way you're right/best choice just go see the doctor, Like you and Alfiebax2 said going to the doctor... At least just to put my mind at rest, either Way ...the best option.
Thank you for the feedback Very much appreciated good day and God bless
I would go see a doctor but it is practically impossible to inhale something the size of a pill into your lungs without coughing it out. Even if it were dissolved in your mouth it would be almost impossible to inhale it into your lungs without a very serious coughing fit.
Yes that definitely seems to be about right. I'm just trying to think of any possibility on why one day pretty much no coughing no mucus to the next with a lot of black mucus...It's like trying to add 1+A=B When you have no idea what A or B equals.
It's been three days since the first time I coughed up the black mucus and each day it has gotten less and less ...(I also haven't been coughing that much due to the socket/Blood clot I don't want coming out of my mouth) ...Good news maybe, Fingers crossed and still GP need Most likely ....
Once again thank you to everybody that took the time to give me some feedback and reply to this thank you, very much appreciated. I wish you all the best and god bless.
Hi!! I hope you got to see your physician. I work as a dental assistant...for quite a few years. Two things came to my mind....you quit smoking...you do cough up...I will call it stuff... and when you have teeth extracted...no matter how good you are suctioned....you will swallow some blood, then you will swallow more for most of the day afterward. But, with that....I'd still go see my GP, just in case. (Old swallowed blood...turns very dark...alot).
