Been on 40mg for about 2 months and my doc at brompton said to come off a pill a week but every pill I come off I feel my breathing worsen and get harder pill by pill down to 25mg and it’s getting difficult, and she believed it wasn’t inflammation and said I shouldn’t get worse, wonder what they’ll say now

You've done very well to get it down to 25mg, so don't feel bad and don't worry to much. My son has the same problem, on 60mg a day for years. They tried to reduce his a pill a week as well with no success, everything spiralled out of control and he ended up in hospital. Maybe when you next see your Dr and tell her whats being happening she will come up with another way, maybe try reducing 1 pill a month to get the body used to it before taking the next step.

Good luck and good health and remember you're not the only one having this problem. X

Prednisolone is issued in 5s and 2s. Why not see your doctor and ask if you can have some 2s so you can make the reductions in smaller steps ie not a sudden reduction once a week by 5mg but every 3 days by 2mg. It worked for me but of course we are all different.

Be nice to get off them we’re all so aware of the things it does to our body there like the last line of defence against lung disease

I'm afraid it's not just lung disease they're used for, RA and most if not all the Auto-immune disease's and plenty of other's as well either by pills or IV at high dose's. Like I say you really aren't alone on this one, so chin up and keep up the good work. Don't forget to listen to what your body is telling you and slow down with the reduction if you need to. You will get there in the end, remember it's not a race.

Gosh I’m sorry for you, you’re struggling w/reducing dose. DEFINEATELY CALL THE DOC maybe they’ve got an alternative. I’m guessing that’s the same thing as what we call prednisone here- a cortacoid steroid usually in conjunction w/antibiotic when you’re super sick. That stuff will burn holes in our stomached w/prolonged use. So they are trying to do the right thing by getting you off it but they need to give you something to compensate you for shortness of breath. Be your own best advocate, call the office and tell them” this quality of life is unacceptable” Good luck will be thinking positive thoughts for you
