Prednisolone: Hi again has anyone been... - Lung Conditions C...
Prednisolone
Perhaps a word with your gp may help, mine went ballistic at me when i just stopped taking them, you feel really crap for ages..You have to come of steroids slowly bit by bit slowly lowering the dose..The helpline will give you the best advice xx
I've been steroid dependant for a few months now, ( matron and GP ), 20 mg per day.
We're it it not for a recent change in my condition I would be asking to reduce to 15 mg. and maybe 10 later, moon faced chipmunk does not suit me, apart from all the other side effects.
Good luck, Chris.
Praps I should point out I'm stage 4 palliative.
Maybe now you have got to 10mg you need to stop reducing until you are stable, then continue reducing more slowly. As for steriod dependency, I have been so for 20 odd years, and never get below 20. Yes I suffer the long term side effects, but on the other hand I am still breathing.
Hi, I amm on the lung transplant list and my consultant put me on a maintenance course of 12.5mg, anymore and they wouldn't take me on the list. Not sure what works anymore as I seem to take everything there is, my biggest problem with the steroids are the bruising my legs are black and blue on the shins ans so sore if they are touched. But still breathing! Susie
Pete is dependent on pred and cannot get below 10 either. It does not bother him as he takes so many drugs he probably does not even notice side effects now. See your GP if you are concerned. Good luck to you. xx
Thanx for all the advice given started a slower taper down see gp in couple of days x
Hi Sassy 59. My husband is on maintenance dose of 5mg Prednisone permanently and almost every 6wks he has to up them to 30mg for 10days and then wean back down to 5mg over the next week together with docycycline antibiotic for about a week. Never really gets over flare ups. He is also permanently on 2 slophyllin capsules and 6 mucrodeyne capsules every day. Then he has oxygen, nebuliser and all his inhalers!
