Two months ago I was taken to hospital and put on oxygen but after five days in hospital and a few days at home my sats returned to normal for me (96) so the oxygen equipment was returned. last Monday my saturations droped to 77 and would not go higher even with breathing exercises so ended up in hospital again Two days later and after putting oxygen equipment back in my house I'm home my oxygen sats are 88 on oxygen and anything from 77/84 off oxygen
My fingers are firmly crossed that my lungs start working again and my saturation returns to somewhere near normal for me.
I would love to hear about your journey xx

Hello lozzy58 I'm new to all this copd malarkey myself but I'm happy to share my story! I have stage 4 severe copd I also have chronic asthma. Looking back I had been ill 4/5 times a year for 3+ years. Back in January this year I was told by my gp I had a virus and sent home 4 days later I begged my hubby to take me to a/e where I was rushed into icu with sats of 67 I had lung failure days later I was in the chest ward been told I had copd with a lung capacity of 24%. Now my body cannot maintain good sats so I'm on oxygen 24/7 I started out on 2 ltr and after 8 weeks they lowered me to 1 ltr. I will be reassessed again later this year as I gave up smoking at the time. Tracy x
Hi. I have bronciectasis and COPD and have had since about 2005. Last December I had a really bad pseudamonis lung infection and was really breathless. I went to hospital and had to have IV antibiotics this time . My sats had also dropped to 72 as I went in so was put on oxygen. They stayed quite low while I was in and still didn't improve that much so came home on oxygen. After a lot of hard work with exercise etc I am still on oxygen 2 litre sats on rest 95-98 but as soon as I do anything they drop to low 80's. I manage to drive but don't walk too far when out. I am only 58 and it is very difficult at times.
