Is this possible?

My last X-ray in Jan said I had mild emphysema changes and several ring shadows representing bronchiectasis, (I didn't think these could be seen on a X-ray ) My specialist requested a ct which is next week, obviously I'm concerned about what else I have, my next appointment is in July, a long time to wait and wonder. 😒 I already have a copy of my medical records, if I was to ask for the ct and the report to join the bits I have would I be able to get my results before seeing the specialist. Or how else can I find out with out waiting another two months? after all the results would just be sitting there, surely it's my right to find out what's wrong with me when they are ready.

Hi Nik72

It seems very cruel to have to wait 2 months for test results. If they are unable to bring forward your appointment then maybe ask for a telephone consultation? Wishing you good luck.

Thank you for your reply.

You are right. Bronch can only be diagnosed by ct. You can call your consultant's secretary and tell them that you want to know the result if an appt is too far ahead

Your last x Ray has come up with the exact results my CT scan did. I didn’t think normal X-rays would show bronchiectasis or emphysemic rings🤔it’s ridiculous nowadays how long we have to wait for ANY test results. I hear that some tests are being checked abroad as we don’t have the manpower: specialists here anymore!

You could ask your gp if they get results asap and can tell you. As far as I can tell after years of experience is that appointment time bears very little relationship to timing of test results. More like optimism than actuality.

Hi, If the rsults are available before your next appointment then your GP should have copies he can giveyou an opinion.Failing that you could get a clinician to requestbthe info and likewise give an opinion. It's probably written in hospital speak which may not fully explain the situation to yourself in a way that you understand and you may get spooked. a specialist will be better positioned to give you the information.

Try phoning the consultants and focal secretary. They are usually very helpful. Good luck. Xx
