it help me a lot to understand, and reading the messages from others, funny thing is those injection was given to my husband in his last stage, or was it last stage... we as family did not know why those injection where given he did not have any of those symptoms, the only think was his oxygen was low at 35 and on 15 ltr that did not help as it was bank holiday week we were waiting for consultant, and hospital note said no treatment to be given to patient...so why those injection was administered...
I’m so sorry that you’ve lost your husband and this must be a difficult time for you. When the hospital said ‘no treatment to be given to patient’ what they meant was that your husband was so very ill that any further treatment would be futile and would not help him. He therefore moved to palliative care to help him to be as comfortable as possible and give him some peace. The doctors would have treated symptoms which they would have expected could have made things difficult for your husband. They wanted to prevent him being sick and to help him be relaxed rather than agitated.
I don’t know if this is any help. Even when doctors say ‘no further treatment’ there are always things which can be done to help their patient. It’s good care. x
