Severe bruising after injection for Pulmoniograph

I had to have a CT Pulmoniograph yesterday, my veins are very poor and it's always difficult to find them but the radiographer really struggled and I suffered!! This is what I'm left with today.

Wow, what a bruise.

I thought I bruised very easily but that's bad. I always say when having anything like this done to use a very small needle (butterfly one) and that I have bad veins and that there may be difficulties, sometimes they get a more experienced person on the case. I have had many situations where they have struggled and left me badly bruised, so I always speak up first.

Hope the bruise goes soon.

Thankyou, the thing is I'm not even on high steroids at the moment! They were an hour behind schedule and I think it had more to do with rushing than anything but sure I'm sure I'll live to see another day!! 😊

Hi Bronagh2015. Sorry to hear that. I had a simple blood test 3 years ago. It was taken by a female doctor ageds about 14 lol . . well, it was her first day out of med school. Had the bruise for ages and there is still a mark there now.

Poor you. I have this problem a lot of the time & my veins are so bad that they blow even if they manage to get get a needle in. Just a tip for future, hospitals should have IV specialist nurses who use ultrasound to search for most suitable veins. Not necessarily less painful but fewer attempts. I have been advised to let department know in advance that I will need an IV nurse. They don't always listen as some doctors are very arrogant & think they are gods but can work a lot of the time. I hope your bruise gets better very soon we have to put up with enough without this extra pain.

That's good advice thankyou so much! Yeah I've an awful lot going on at the minute with Lupus and difficult asthma so really could do without this.☹️
