Thinking of getting a shopping trolley.

A new shop is opening at the bottom of our road, Lidl, which will be handy just to walk there. But I think I need a trolley to lean on and it's slightly uphill coming back, like most of us I get quite breathless. Which trolley do you think is best. I would need something quite sturdy and maneuverable Has anyone any ideas please. Lilian xxxxxxxx

Good idea. Might be useful to get one that has a seat attached as well. On Amazon.

Thank you Flatcoat, a seat sounds a very good idea. Lilian xxxx

Great idea Lilian. There are so many to choose from though. Try googling 'shopping trolley' or 'shopping trolley with seat' and you get several choices. It depends whether you just want something to carry the shopping, or to be able to sit if you get too tired, or whether you want it to provide some support as well when you're pushing.

Pity I can't add a photo to this reply. I found some very stylish ones when I googled. Good luck in your search. :)

Thank you Jabber, I really want one for all three of the above. I am having a look on Amazon at the moment and reading the reviews. Spoilt for choice really. Lilian xxxxx

Hi

Not the cheapest, but very robust, seat and brake plus easy fold.

Recently see several in local supermarket seems ideal.

I've just had a look at those Stone and am very impressed, I'm quite taken with the one with the back rest, I think I will order the light tartan one. Thank you for your help once again. Lilian xxxxxx

When Lidl’s opened a new store near us I did exactly the same as you and bought a shopping trolley. However, whatever type you get, do make sure you don’t actually buy more goods than will fit into it. It’s so easy to get carried away with your purchases. I did that once and ended up having to phone a friend to come and pick me up in her car as I’d bought too much to carry! Actually, you’ll probably find Lidl’s sometimes sell shopping trolleys, but not fancy ones with seats - it’s amazing the variety of products you find there. Happy shopping.

Thank you Misstickle, with the new shop opening it does seem like a good opportunity to do a bit of shopping and just as important to do some walking. I do get carried away a bit with shopping so will do as you suggest and only buy a small amount, I can always go back the next day!! I really like the value at Lidl and Aldi for some things. I have used them for years and a necessity since going on oxygen. A 3wheel one is the most manoeuvreable. The 4 wheel one is very sturdy, a little heavier to push but has a seat if you need to stop if need to catch your breath. I use my 3 wheel mostly putting my oxygen cannisters in the bag secured by a bungee rope attached to the frame for security should the bag come undone. Sure you will find one a huge help.

Thank you Joyce, I think I will need the one with the seat. It must be hard work securing your oxygen in the bag etc., life is not easy is it? But we are lucky to have all these things to help us. I will get one. Lilian. xxxxxxx

Good for you Lilian - my son always drives me to the shops once a week. I can scoot round Lidl's and Sainsbury with a shopping trolly and I can feel the exercise helping hips and legs, I am about to get a rollator so I can go walking with him with my dog - wish I could find one that would work on beaches! Just to add Lidl's trollies are far more comfortable to use than Sainsbury's so I suppose there are a few things to consider, height etc, with a rollator.

I don't know much about shopping trolleys, I have heard of the rollator, I might look at this as I want to use it for walking the dogs etc.as well as shopping.. Thank you Dragonmum. Lilian xxxxxx

Yes, I'm looking to buy one too, but it would need to be able to hold an oxygen cannister too. Not at all sure if they are strong enough to take one though without becoming unstable
