I totally agree with you. The GP surgeries have gone to pot. I think you live not too far from me and I feel for you. Xxxx

My surgery is the same bursting at the seams, the 2 GPs that I have seen are very nice but not much good as far as lungs go. Thankfully I have been under the care of specialists at the hospital who have directed the GPs on my treatments.

There are lots of issues with the way the NHS is funded at present and also the regulations requiring health professionals to spend an inordinate amount of time doing CPD (continuous professional development) to maintain their professional registration. Add on that the extra administration making the national health service act as a market pricing and invoicing everything. It's no wonder surgeries are struggling and doctors don't want to become UK GPs when they qualify, they want to move to another country with less red tape and more appreciation.

My surgery is very good in many ways. However like many as problems. Over the last 5 years the level of building in my village and surrounding villages as only added to the problem. Yes we need houses but the infrastructure to support the extra population is not there. No extra Doctors nor nurses. My surgery as minor illness nurses, telephone consultation etc but at half pass four there is still a backlog of emergency consultations to see who need seeing but there are no regular appointments. They plan to open on Saturday but where are the staff coming from? Yes there is funding but a shortage of trained staff.

It seems to be the same all over the country. In the last 4 years there have been over 300 new houses built around me with a further 150 going up at the end of my road but no new surgeries. I have to wait at least 3 weeks to see my doctor now goodness knows how long it will be once these houses are finished. The poor doctors and staff are run off their feet. I dont know what the answer is but do think if new houses are built then new surgeries should be built with them.

We need more doctors more nurses more hospitals more surgeries. Their pay has been frozen for many years (increased this year). A and E are overwhelmed so more operations are cancelled. This is very 4th world. I thank my GP who is marvellous with a well run practice albeit bulging at the seams with new patients. We should not let more building and more people into this country as it is overpopulated as it is. There I've said it !!!!! No more cut backs to the health service PLEASE.

all signs of the creeping underhand systematic undermining of the whole NHS funding and structures - the downward path was set from the moment the Tories started restructuring putting surgeries in competition with other surgeries etc. and hospitals in competition etc. etc. just evil ..... in my opinion

Every practice has a Patient Participation Group. It can be useful to join if you are interested in how practices work, and how to improve communication between patient and practice. It is not about your individual problems but sometimes your experience of how the practice works can help them to do things differently, and make them feel supported. Also, are all of you signed on for online services. Particularly access to your records. It can really help to be able to know what is happening, and get test results etc. All practices should be giving access, but some of it is not very patient friendly. My practice gives me full access, and I can see what has been written after an appt, letters back after hospital tests, blood test results etc. Really helpful in managing things.
