Hi Evs. I had a 2 month double cold before Christmas, and then succumbed to another cold the beginning of March. All three infections were different, and all were very debilitating. As they were colds, there was no point in my GP giving me any antibiotics. I tried to work through the first two and they dragged on. This last one occurred over the bad snow, so I was able to cancel everything and sleep a lot, which has helped it clear up much more quickly. I have been left with some mucus in the throat which comes and goes. If I need to sing in public, I use some Corvona cough mixture just to ease the symptoms, or otherwise Bronchostop. However, I use these as little as possible as it is better to let the cold take its course and the body to fight the infection unhampered. Hope this helps.
Try starting on daily regimen of vitamin C and zinc to help boost your immune system. Start drinking half your weight in ounces of water daily. Get plenty of rest. Hot herbal tea with raw honey help, like camomile plus, hot chicken bone broth is great. If you have access to albuterol and/or an inhaled steroid, that should open you up so you can get the phlegm out. I have slight asthma, and whenever I get a chest cold, this is what I do and it keeps me off antibiotics every time. If I don’t, it lingers for months! You have some lung inflammation and fluid in there. Of course, check with your doctor about the persciptions to make sure they don’t interact with anything else you may be taking or any preexisting health conditions.
